Poor Callie, Antibiotic reaction Well Callie had a skin infection and went to the vet last Friday. She had to get her cytopoint shot and I hate giving her multiple shots so I opted for the pills. Bad idea her stomach is very upset. She will be just sitting there and I don't know if she thinks she is passing gas but then diarrhea will be everywhere. She sprayed my dresser last night and it got all over my bedroom so she is going to the vet today at 3pm. She is not one to potty in the house ever. Obviously she has to come off this antibiotic and go on a different one, be checked for dehydration and then possibly something for the immediate diarrhea. I have no idea if this is simply the antibiotic or if the antibiotic flared her IBD or what. I'm hopping we get to and from the vet with out any accidents but I'm taking some baby wipes and putting her on a towel in her car seat. Poor Callie I feel like goes through so much I hate to see her dealing with another issue. Prayers and good thoughts please. I will try to update later. |
Poor Callie; poor Taylor. |
She was dehydrated and had to have fluids. They said to discontinue the one antibiotic and put her on something for the diarrhea. |
Prayers that she is on the road to recovery. |
I'm going to pick up some pedialyte tonight to give her is she keeps having diarrhea for a couple of days. |
Callie Dear Taylor. So sorry to hear poor Callie is going through all this misery. Praying she improves soon and the skin infection goes away. I feel for you too Taylor as you must be really suffering too, knowing Callie feels bad. Thinking of you and your baby and sending healing wishes for this to be better soon. |
Oh my gosh, poor Callie baby :(! What a reaction, wow! I almost have to wonder if that was entirely from the antibiotic, or, if there was a GI bug present concurrently as well...but really, who knows..? At any rate, no point in taking the chance and trying the pill again, geesh! But how bizarre, poor kiddo. Was it Simplicef..? That's what Wylie always took for the pyoderma, x28days, and he never had a problem - but of course he just never had a side effect from any med whatsoever, I don't know why. Puppy kisses to Callie - hope she feels better soon ! Keep us posted. |
We did not have any in house blow ups like were happening but still diarrhea outside but nothing like it was. Going to give her a little pedialyte this morning and some tonight and probably tomorrow as well. She had a little bit of a weight drop which I’m hoping was just because she needed fluids. She was from 17 pounds even on the 20th to 16.8 yesterday. She seems to be acting like she is feeling better. She snapped at Penny last night but doesn’t seem grumpy at all today. Penny doesn’t get why Callie didn’t want to play. |
