Why not cut to the chase just go to an internal med specialist? They opt to do a lot of stuff but get to the bottom of things SO much faster. When your vet did blood work did she send a GI Panel out to A&M ?

I still believe BATs should be done and shunt ruled out before going really far like scoping which is often what it takes to nail this kind of thing down. But, of course, it is just one pet owner's opinion that could be far off base.

I think most places would still want the blood work done. I just don’t feel like it’s worms. If the blood work comes back with no answers I will do the BAT and if still no answers then I will look at a specialist. Most are not close at all so I would like to do what I can at my vet first. I do value your opinion. I’m kinda thinking you are spot on about the liver shunt but I personally have not experienced it in a dog. I just think about how he has always been really weird and picky with food. What happens if it is liver shunt?

I agree 100%. Sometimes, but not always, it is in the best interests of your furkid to skip the local vet and seek help from a specialist.

It may be IBD or some other GI thing. That is why I asked about the GI panel...my vet does that with dogs that are presenting with GI symptoms.

I wish I had some kind of information on his breeder even just a name to research but he had no papers or anything not even the ones that pretty much mean nothing. I know it wasn't a great breeder if at 9 weeks he had been to multiple homes but I feel like if I had a name I could at least see if there where health issues from the breeder. Waiting is so frustrating so is not being able to do anything. He is not acting sickly at all he wrestles with his sister and wants to play fetch and all his normal stuff. When he threw up the other day he went and got his ball and brought it to me for fetch and I wouldn't play with him because he just threw up. I wish they could talk and that I could take his issues.

So vet called and all those test came back great. She wants to wait and see if he throws up again or not because she thinks it could be GI upset. If she throws up again she wants to do the bigger tests like the BAT and such and possibly x-rays. I don't think it is GI upset and I might call tomorrow and just opt to go ahead and get the tests. I just don't think it could be GI upset for that long.

GI upset can last that long if ulcers etc - were those ruled out or discussed? I so wish you had clear answers :(! I just hate the not knowing thing!

Not really. I did find away to get the probiotic in him! It might not be the best way but it’s working.

Just a little update on Joey. He has not thrown up in over a week and is doing very well.
