Almost 3 year old just started drooling Hi! Starting overnight last night I noticed our baby has started drooling... quite a bit. I have never seen him drool once before now. He is acting normal with everything else (eating, drinking, playing, walks). I called the vet this afternoon and spoke to a nurse. She suggested just watching him and giving it a day to see if it fixes itself (and of course to call if he become lethargic, or has vomiting and diarrhea). I feel really bad for him since he has to move every 20 min or so since he keeps getting the blankets he is laying on soaking wet. Has anyone ever had a situation like this? |
If this baby is still drooling I would see the vet ASAP. This could be an allergic reaction to something or it could be a bad tooth causing him pain. Please update on how he's doing. |
I'd take him to the vet. My Troy had subtle changes like this when he got sick with GME. May not be that serious but it's concerning since he started drooling out of the blue and then it went away. |
Update on Archie: he drooled a lot overnight. This morning he vomited so I immediately called the vet and was able to get him in this morning. The vet said that drooling can be a sign of nausea, and the vomiting this morning supported that. He was given an anti-nausea shot and I was told to give him Pepcid AC to calm his stomach. We have been back home for an hour now and he hasn't vomited anymore, but he is still drooling. I had given him a small amount of chicken on Sunday night so the vet says that was likely the culprit. She said his teeth looked fine and all other vital signs were normal. |
Honestly - you do need to see a vet. This could be the teeth or something else entirely. |
