Thanks Thank you. I see I am not alone. And that our furbabes can get mystery illnesses, even though we take great care of them and what they ingest. Thanks for the encouragement that it takes time to recover from the upset. I hope he gets better soon or I will get sick from worry! He is sleeping after gobbling down his breakfast and leaving me stressed out. I am sure he will be fine and thanks for your good wishes and support. |
Dog food My 2 yorkies had runny poops. They have been on the hills I'd and that helped. Still on the I'd wet food and I am giving them royal canin dry mini for sensitive stomach. They like the taste. Poop is normal. I also give the probiotic. That helps. I use the forti flora one. I bet my dogs licked bird poop or something that got them messed up. Have to watch everything they eat. |
Two dogs Thanks for your reply. So sorry your two had the runny poops, dealing with one dog was bad enough, but two??? Glad they are doing better now and that your food etc regimen is working. Yes it is possible my boy had a sly lick at something he shouldn't. They can be fast! The trouble is I don't have a yard with grass in my condo and have to go into a park or community for walks etc. He won't do his business unless he is on grass! So I have no control of what is hidden on the ground. All I can do is look hard and hope. I even called my local City Parks dept and asked them to look into toxins they put on the grass etc. Anyway. Thanks for your comments and experiences. I think my boy is ok now and I am keeping him on the Hills ID Low Fat canned for a while. Then I will slowly try to covert to his usual ID kibble. |
Dog food My friend Kim and I are looking into good healthy foods for our yorkies. Now they are back to normal poop . |
Good news So happy to hear your babies are back to normal again. Good luck with the food search. As my boy had Pancreatitis once I have to only fed him Hills ID Low Fat. He has done well on it so far apart from this last upset.. |
Just seeing this. Hoping Austin had licked his tummy problems. Lisaly got me to start Tibbe on probiotics and they changed his life. He's a hopeless forager outside and had unlimited bouts like you described until I started him on a supply sweet Lisa sent me! Once we used that up, I was a believer a kept Tibbe in constant supply. Uses 1/4 tsp. over his food daily. He's not been off them since and had no bouts of nausea, soft poops or frank diarrhea since he began them. Once since he started them he retched as if he were going to throw up but didn't and for a Yorkie, that is so amazing considering how he spent his first few years of life w/constant tummy issues. Austin, we're praying and pulling for you!!! |
Probs Hi. Thank you for the suggestion. No I haven't given Austin probiotics so far. Austin rarely has these upsets and I think the prescription Hills ID that I always feed him may have them in the food. But I will look into it. Thank you. Great that Tibbe has benefitted from them. I have IBS and I think that PBs help me, so I am a convert. I will answer your other post in a PM so I don't hijack the flood thread. Thank you again for your concern, good wishes and suggestions, grealy appreciated. Good to talk with you again too. 😄 Take care both of you. |
Jeanie Hi. Just see that these are not in the TX threads! My mind is not good with all the sleepless nights etc. Austin also is a forager and I have to watch his sniffing constantly, but he seems to need to do that to choose a peeing and pooping spot! He seems fine with eating etc but still poops out a full days food at 3 am instead of his usual poops on day walks. He also barks and wakes me up. After that I can't sleep as I am concerned about him. The poop is well formed if a little soft, but that could be the wet canned ID food. I am still concerned and will take him back to the vet if anything else happens. But the vet seems to think it just needs time for him to heal from whatever he got into. Obviously not serious on the face of it as he has never had real runny poop, but I do worry. So sad for Linda's babies. She is a wonderful mom to her babies.. |

Poor Linda! Losing little Matty just before all that horror had to be a nightmare and then little Olivia doing so badly. All while every where she turns is one horror story after the other, destruction and her city so disrupted. Got to be the most depressing time for her. Lord, life is tough. |
GI Thanks so much Jeanie. Your reply is very comforting. I wondered if the canned ID LFat was doing it. I am now soaking the ID LFat kibble and putting small amounts in with the canned to see if that helps. The vet just called as I had requested and is giving me more Cerenea in case I need it, but I don't think so as he has been fine today, eating with no vomiting since Monday am. She is also giving some doggie Keopectate to firm up the stool. I asked now as it is a holiday weekend. She said he is still healing and is doing very well. So I am calming down a bit now. He is fine, but I am a more difficult customer!!!! My hubby wonders what all the fuss is about as he thinks all is going according to plan. But I always assume the worst!!! These dogs sure do have delicate tummies. I feel for poor Linda and her loss and sick Olivia, what an ordeal with all that is going on around her too. Praying that Olivia gets over her issues and makes her mom feel better too. I also hope little Tibbe is doing well and continues to beat the odds and gets to be 20 plus at least! Please take care of yourself sweet girl and thanks for your kindness and support. Warmest wishes, Dottie and the Yorky Terror. 😍🌻🐾🐕 |
Olivia So sorry Lady Jane. You must be devastated. Hugs and healing thoughts and prayers. Just read your sad post elsewhere. |
GI update My boy seems better today and went thru the nite with no poops. First in a week!! Ate his breakfast and no longer on Cerenea and I pray he is on the mend now. I will continue the smaller meals and light diet for a while. Thanks for all your support and comfort. I was really concerned. I wish all in Tx and La were in better shape. I do so feel for all who are in this horrible situation. Prayers for them. |
When Cali was in the doggie ICU recently they gave her the canned ID and it caused pretty soft stools, but when we tried the kibble ID her poos are perfect. |
Yorkiemini Thank you for your kind input. Good to have the experience of others. I have now added rice and softened ID kibble and stopped the Cerenia and any meds and his one poop today was much better. So it looks like he is getting over what ever ailed him. I hope tonight is poop free also and no early morning calls! Gradually I will return to his regular hard ID kibble via increasing the amount of softened ID kibble gradually to the rice and canned ID. Certainly he seems hungry and back to his normal feisty self. Yeh! |
