Crystals and Polp In My Yorkies Bladder Just got back from my vet and had Kinder in for an ultrasound to get a sterile urine sample. She has had Uti's off and on through her life. She is seven years old now and I am worried sick! They found calcium osalite crystals and one little Polp in her bladder. She is allergic to chicken so she had to go on Prescription Diet Purina Canine NF. Very low in protein. Anyways she loves the food and she has to stay on it. I bring her back in one month for another ultrasound and for a sterile urine sample. My vet wants to see if the Polp will disappear from her irritation. Otherwise she has to have surgery to remove it. Please pray for my baby and if anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. I get scared if it is cancer. I am sick with worry. Kinder is happy today and playful and doing fine otherwise. Susan |
Our 4 year old Malachi was diagnosed with a uti and put on zenaquin. He has been on it 3 weeks. He appears much better but the vet wanted to do a BTA antigen test for cancer which came back positive for bladder cancer. The sample was one I furnished and lab work took 4 days from receipt of sample. With Malachi having had only 1 prior uti was surprised vet wanted to do this test and then says it is 50/50 in accuracy and several urinalysis have shown decreases in bacteria. The last was "nearly"clear. I think I would want more info on your girl before she is cut on. Good luck. |

I am so sorry I didn't see this previously..... I have always heard of Proin for urinary incontinence. I don't have any experience with Estradiol....I would be a bit concerned about possible issues . I honestly don't know but in humans it is associated with breast cancer; and I would be asking if it is a bit riskier than Proin. You many have already asked that question...just putting it out there. Do hope all is well! |
I have no experience with this so unfortunately have no advice. But know that I've said a prayer for your baby and hope she improves. |
I would go with the Proin as the Estradiol is estrogen & can cause bone cancer in dogs. I have used the Proin with several older rescues & it worked great. I don't believe that at her age it is a behavioral problem but rather age related incontinence. |
Thank you for the great advice. I will talk to my vet about this. I even read about Proin side effects and I feel that is not good. I know my vet did say he has had is English bulldog on estradiol for years and said she has done well. I appreciate all your advice maybe I will have to go to a different vet in Arizona and get another opinion. Sometimes I feel I do not know if I am coming or going over this. I wished Kinder could talk these poor fur kids are so innocent. Susan P.S.- she is doing great and back to her playful self . |
