Mucus & blood in Davincis poop Hello, Im hoping someone can give a suggestion. Came home today after being gone a few hours & noticed that not only had Davinci pooped on the carpet in my living room but that there was blood & mucus in it. He used the bathroom outside right before I left with no problem. So i was a little suprised to see that he pooped again so soon, but worried when i say that it had the blood in it. He hasnt been eating like he normally would over the past week, I think its b/c hes upset that Ive been locking him behind the gate while I go to work, only b/c hes been pooping on the carpet everyday. He was his normal happy energetic self when I left earlier now hes just looking so sad. I boiled some chicken with a little rice and he ate it right up. The most I have seen him eat in about a week. Any clue what could be wrong? |
I would have him checked out by a vet. |
Needs to be seen by a vet! |
Any update on Davinci? |
Thanks for inquiring. I called my vet & they asked if he appeared to be in pain & I said no. She said to watch for the next poop and it was normal but a larger amount then usual. She said he may have been constipated. To call & make an appointment if anything changes. Im not sure if im happy with that answer. |
It's been 4 days since you posted this thread, is there still blood & mucus in his poop? If there is I would take a fresh sample of the poop and see a different vet for a second opinion. |

I think your vet is being reasonable...if his stool was normal then why take him in? If he has blood in it again, then, as she said, call and make an appointment. Sounds right to me.. |
Loose stool My Jojo had the same thing loose stool with blood and mucus. He is a very sensitive dog. Vet has him on the I'd wet rx food and that has helped. Still when he gets nervous his stool is a little loose. Just called the vet to recommend a dry food. I have fromm and royal can in mini for sensitive stomach. I also have a bag of id dry. You know which one she said to use the i'd dry. I have been searching for a food for him. Scared the 4 and 5 star foods are too rich. I hope you solve your dog's loose stool issue. |

The dog food dilemma Thanks lady Jane for your reply. I guess I will go with the dry kibble id. I thought of home cooking but probably could not get it balanced. Besides if I stand up cooking for the dogs my husband will wonder where is his. Ha |

I home cooked for Cookie ... it does take a lot of time and you do have to go through a vet nutritionist to get it balanced correctly. I think you will be happy with the ID....is it the low fat one? I highly recommend it if it is ok with your vet. |
Dog food What scares me is that I read a lot of posts that say science diet is crappy food. I wish I could feed a wholesome food with less fillers. Maybe I can add chicken and some veggies or will that mess Jojo up. Jo is a little skinny butt Yorkie that shakes at loud noises. Very fragile fella but very loving too. |

This applies ESPECIALLY to the prescription foods. That anyone would be afraid of these foods infuriates me. I have cared for so many sickly pups over the years and have seen first hand the miracles from these prescription foods! I have used Hill's, Purina and Royal Canin RX foods with great results. I have some pups on RX foods now. I don't add any foods to those foods ... they are all balanced to meet the needs of the dogs. Focusing only on ingredients is not how you pick a good dog food. I have posted this link many times and am posting again. You can read the FAQs on this site and if you don't see an answer to a question you have, you can send it in and you will receive an answer. This comes from a vet nutritionist with qualifications that are so far beyond what all these online "experts" have! Take a look at it and read it! www.petdiets.com Take a look at Dr. Remillard's resume.... https://www.petdiets.com/userfiles/f...bbrev%20CV.pdf |
