Diabetes with high liver enzymes So my boy has had Diabetes for almost a year. He's been pretty well regulated and eats and drinks well. I just took him in for a regular check up and they noticed his liver enzymes were just a bit high. I'm going back on Tuesday to talk to the vet more about it but I was wondering if any one with a diabetic dog had experience with this. I was thinking of changing his food once we are done with this bag, my other dog doesn't like it, I dunno if I'm going to have to go to prescription food or try to find a food that's ok for his allergies, diabetes, and liver :( I'm so sad, any advice would be appreciated |
What enzyme(s) is/are elevated? The ALT often can be elevated and not mean much. Hopefully this is the case. Try to think positive...I think it is great his blood sugars are stable. Not sure I would change his food if he is doing well. Keep us posted. |
It was his ALT- it's gone from 78 in February to 113 now. I was just reading about how liver problems can come with Diabetes and started freaking out |

My vet usually waits a few weeks and rechecks if it is elevated. |
