Feel like something is wrong My baby, Zoey, is almost 9 years old. Last year, she was diagnosed with idiopathic vestibular disease but thankfully hasn't had any issues with that since then. For the past few days though, I can't shake the feeling that something is wrong. I first noticed her "popping" her jaw on the right side. I figured it may be because she licks her lips and then gets fur in her mouth. Then she had a somewhat runny nose. Last night her eyes were sort of squinty and watery. She is playful, comes when called, full of energy (she runs around the house like she is in a marathon) and she is eating and drinking normally. No issues with vomiting or diharrea. This morning she was sleeping and jerked up and jumped up like she needed to go outside but she jumped down off the sofa, paced for a minute then came back to get on the sofa and go back to sleep. She was a rescue and Ive had her for 8 years. She has always had a slight tremor at times during the day so that's never bothered me. But I can't stop feeling like something is wrong with her. She just seems a little "off". Has anyone else experienced this? |
You know your dog better then anyone and if you feel something is wrong take her to the vet to be checked out. |
I haven't, but always go with your gut feeling. You know your little kiddo better than any one does. I allowed people to placate me at the vet for over a year, and I was finally granted a correct dx, because I wasn't going to listen to "she's just doing this for attention" or, "you're just being neurotic." It will make you feel awful later that there was suffering (if any) and nothing was done about it. |
Hi, When our Dinky does pacing or jumping back and forth out of his bed, he is usually in pain. he does have some arthritis, so first he gets a massage, then if necessary a heating pad (the microwave kind), then pain med if necessary, and then a call to the vet. The heat does the trick probably 80% of the time. |
Squinting eyes is usually a sign of pain. The watery eyes and jaw popping would lead me to investigate a dental issue. |
I have to agree, vet visit, always follow your gut feeling, better safe then sorry. |
