low protein
 
My yorkie is 4 lbs and is 2 years old she started having throwing up brought to vet says her protein is low and she is dehydrated he gave her some fluids and sent us home with medication sucralfate that was yesterday he said all he could find wrong was low protein count that was yesterday she wont hardly get out of her kennel or move much today dont know what to do anybody dealt with this ?

Sucralfate is used to treat ulcers. We can't diagnose your Yorkie, but I would call the vet and tell him about the additional symptoms and ask him for more details about the diagnosis. Low protein, vomiting, and the possibility of ulcers has me thinking that your vet might be thinking about Protein Losing Enteropathy (PLE), which is a very serious condition. Definitely talk with your vet, and if you don't think the vet is doing a good job of explaining things to you and treating your Yorkie, see another vet and get a second opinion.

It could just be a gastritis of some kind. If it is that, it's not uncommon for them to not feel well for a couple days.

Sucralfate can help w/ nauseousness. Has she eaten at all yet, and if so, has she vomited...?

Try giving her some simple carbs - like pieces of white bread / cracker etcetera. It can absorb nauseous juices, settle the tummy, stimulate appetite, and provide her some energy.

If your gut is telling you that more is wrong - then call the vet and discuss and/or go back in.

How is/was her appetite before this...?

she was doing great until i give her the heartworm pill then threw up the next day was sick for 3 days brought her in. Couple days after the vet visit she is moving around more eating some little ceasers soft food i am watching to see if she can hold it down.

Hmmmm....which Heartworm pill did she get...? I would perhaps try a different one next time. But then again, it could just be a bug/gastritis coinciding with the pill too. Tough to say. Has she ever had that particular hworm pill before this time...?

I would def give her some simple carbs though...if she is still seeming slow to appetite stim...

she is eating what i give her just dont want to give her too much at one time right now to make sure she can hold it down. Heartguard that is what i have been giving her forever. giving her little cesars soft food now. usually wellness toy breed dry food

Huh, very odd then. Did the Hworm pill come from a new box you just started or anything weird like that...? If yes, then maybe be careful w/ that and/or contact the company regarding the lot#.

Otherwise, maybe just acute gastritis. Or, could she have eaten anything off of the ground outside...?

yes she is like a vacuum cleaner on the floor in house i know she aint suppose to eat onion but when i am cutting them up pieces fall off on the floor she right there to attack it lol. As far as heartguard that was the second month of the package.

I hope your vet has rechecked that protein level. That is a very scary concern when the protein is low.
Protein losing enteropathy is common in yorkies and a low protein can be a sign of that and/or protein losing nephropathy.
Be sure to follow up on this!!!
