Can vaccinations cause heart failure? Hi. I was wondering if anyone else has run into this. I breed my Yorkies and have never had a problem before so I am not sure where to even look for information. I had a litter of 4 puppies. They all have Vet checks and were all healthy. They went to their new homes and then I get a call that one of them has passed away. She was healthy when she left but the autopsy says that she died of heart failure. I have no problem with following through with my contract and refunding the family that bought her. My question is what could have caused heart failure when there was no previous signs of this. She was 13 weeks old. The only thing that she had different is that the family the bought her was also a breeder and she gave her own set of second shots. Could that have an affect on her heart? |
How awful! What a tragedy for such a young, precious baby! I can imagine how scary and sad this is for both you and the owner. If the vet who performed the necropsy didn't specify what he thought had directly caused the heart failure, I would ask him whether or not there were any congenital cardiovascular abnormalities that any of the vaccines could have directly affected. Is there any proof that real vaccines and not something else were given to the pup? Any analysis done to see what actual pharmaceuticals or chemicals were in the pup's body at the time of death and if they were actual FDA-approved vaccine product? I've heard of other chemicals/biologics mistakenly or even purposefully substituted for veterinary drugs from certain unethical or unwitting sellers. |
I really don't think so. There had to have been a heart condition that wasn't picked up. I would make sure all the other puppies in the litter get checked out and I would ask the vet if this was something that can be passed on. Have you breed those two together before with no issues? |
Had you dome any DNA testing on the litter? |
This sound like a congenital heart issue to me... |
