Hoping to get some advice or insight. two months ago my yorkie Tedy started having some gastro issues. He woke up one morning and wouldn't eat. He then had diarrhea and vomiting so off to the vet we went. They put him on anti nausea meds and some antibiotics and he seemed fine for about two weeks then the same thing, wouldn't eat his normal food and had bouts of vomiting and diarrhea again. I put him on a bland diet and he started eating again but would not eat his dog food. Off to the vet again and had an xray done. that looked fine. was put on another round a antibiotics. He also started drinking alot of water. Did fine again for a few weeks and then started the same pattern again. Off to the vet again and had bloodwork done. The vet called and said that he some abnormal numbers that were not that bad and could be due to him having gastro issues but that I should think about getting him tested for addisons. He got better again so I put everything on hold and then he got sick again, so I called to make an appointment for the addisons test and asked them to send me a copy of his blood work. His bun is within normal limits, creatine was normal, bun creatine ratio level was slightly elevated, calcium was low, as well as phosphurus. Urine specific gravity was one number lower than normal and had protein and blood of 2+. I know that I am not a vet but to me this along with his symptoms indicate kidney disease, I called the vet and she said that his tests show kidneys are working fine! I am so confused. Anyone with any experience with labwork in dogs with kidney failure? Sorry for the long post, I am just getting so frustrated. Had the Addisons test today and will get the results tomorrow. Thank you for reading! |
