Two out of 3 babies have or had the runs! I'm hoping for some advice..I have 3 Yorkies. My oldest one, Scarlett started having loose stools and diarrhea two days ago. We kept her on a bland diet and it lasted one day, she seems to be fine, regular solid poops since. The next day, her sister, started the same thing. Her name is Jade. Well, her stools were loose as well, this morning she woke up with a decent poop. Tonight I went into the bathroom where her pad is and she had just pooped bloody diarrhea.. THIS FREAKED US OUT! I've been reading a lot and were trying to remain calm...So tonight she had vomited two times, and one other...we gave her some Kaopectate and she vomited that up. We are also giving her electrolites. She is drinking water and has had 4 episodes of the bloody stool. It's like drops of bright blood that looks like water is in it. We will be taking her to the vet tomorrow if it continues. We have no idea what this could be. I also have a four month old yorkie puppy. I'm worried about him too. He is fine up to this point. I don't know what could be that they both have the runs at the same time??? Scarlett didn't bleed at all. Please pray for her! If this stops tonight and tomorrow, do you think we can take her to the vet on Monday? My husband and I are worried. These babies are like our children. We love them so very much! Thank you! |
I called a 24 hour vet and they advised us to keep a eye on her and take her in if she gets worse. I'm not sure if I will be able to sleep, it's sure to be a long night with one eye open. I guess I'll update tomorrow. This hurts my heart so much. I lost my dog Missy in Fairbanks at a 24 hour vet. It wasn't a good experience ... This brings back very very bad memories. |
Sorry to hear your babies are sick. Now speaking only for myself and my past experience with my yorkies. On several occasions one or two of my pups would have bloody diarrhea late in the evening. I would gather it up, wrap it in tin foil, put it in the fridge, fed them boiled boneless chicken cutlets and rice. The next day even if their poop was normal off to the vet we went. I wanted the poop examined. In most cases it was colitis and easily treated. My suggestion to you is, take the poop sample and your pups to the vet. Coccidia in dogs is also bloody diarrhea, and is contagious, also very treatable. I would take no chances with the all the dogs. Get them all to the vet with stool sample ASAP. |
Thank you for you response. She is seemingly fine right note. She finally fell asleep and slept soundly. She's drinking lots of water on her own, thankfully! We'll keep an eye on her today.l I pray she doesn't poop blood again, I don't think I've ever been so scared! I keep you posted! |
They're doing great, were so happy and relieved... |
