please answer My Lexi is getting spayed in the morning. When I talked to the vets office earlier in the week they said "No food or Drink after 10p.m. the night before. Well, we just got in from being out and they left a reminder message and this time the lady said "No food after 9p.m. but water was O.K." Does that mean she can have water all the way up to the time we leave in the morning? She is supposed to be there at 7a.m. I would like to allow her to have the water if she is allowed. She always drinks quite a bit of water so I hate to send her off thirsty when I know she is going to be denied water for so long. |
I would say no water after midnight. You don't want them to have anything on their stomach so the ansthesia doesn't upset it & make them throw up. I'm sure your baby will do fine tomorrow! :) Give us an update when she's all done. :) |
No food after 7 or 8 is fine and no water after midnight. I like to get mine in as soon as I can in the morning to the Vets for no other reason than I don't have to feel so darn guilty! I hate those evenings and early mornings before surgeries. |
OK. Thanks for the tips. I guess we will take up her water at Midnight. I feel so sorry for her. When she goes potty in the morning she runs to her treat bag. I am dreading having to ignore her pleas! She is going to wonder why I am being so mean. :( |
Not to worry. The surgery will make her forget about the missed treat!! :( My hubby and I argue over who has to take the dogs to the vets, because we're afraid they'll hate us for it! Don't worry. I'm sure everything will be fine. |
Good luck with her surgery. Muffie has to go for dental cleaning and pull some permanent teeth and I'm concerned about that also. She's 10-1/2 years old! I know how you feel. |
