What can I give for pain? Roxy has been really quiet the past few hours. After waking from a nap a while ago, she was still very quiet, didn't want to come to me, didn't want me to go toward her. I see that she is limping on her back left leg. Of course it is Friday night. I'm guessing her leg hurts and causing her limp. She's been so healthy for so long, I have forgotten what I can give her for pain. I just remember there was something that I shouldn't give her, but don't know what it was. I've been home all day, and not aware of her doing anything that would cause her to limp. I would appreciate any suggestions of something I might already have here at home. |
Maybe 1/4 of a baby aspirin ?????? My Yorkie weights 6.5 lbs |

It sounds bad enough to me I would take her in before giving her any pain meds. The part that worries me is that she won't come to you, or let you come to her. That bothers me... No ibuprofen or Tylenol. |

If my dogs acted like that I would really freak out, and be afraid the pain was VERY severe, and I would call for an emergency vet visit. I wouldn't worry so much about limping, but the behavior would put me in a tailspin. Mine hold still if they are physically in pain so I can check them over, but i don't try to comfort them physically, so maybe that is the difference? The ones I refer to are larger dogs. The baby Yorkie mix doesn't seem to mind a bit of coddling, but just a bit ;) OP How is your dog today? |
Roxy is doing fine. She was using her leg better by bedtime. She slept right up against me all night. By morning, she was acting her normal self. By afternoon, she was racing me down the hallway. Have wondered if her leg fell asleep on her real good and it scared her. It may have brought flashback of when she had a bad reaction to Trifexis several months earlier. Boy, that was one scary night for both her and for me!!! It was the worst!!! Thanks for your responses. Sorry to take so long to let you know. |
