Plasmacytoma (update on Jack) Does anybody have any experience in caring for a baby who's had plasmacytoma? Jack was diagnosed with it last month and he just had surgery on Tuesday to get rid of the cancer. They removed most of his bottom jaw and my poor baby won't eat. I know it's only been three days since surgery but he just won't eat a thing. Vets say he will eventually learn to eat in a way that's comfortable for him. How long will it take? Jack can't come home unless he eats. I want my baby to be home recovering with us but I fully understand he can't be released until he eats. My heart is broken into a million pieces and there's nothing I can do to help him. I was able to visit him yesterday and he just looks so sad. He won't even eat chicken, and he NEVER says no to chicken. Please help if you know anything about this. I can't take this torture much longer. Thank you. |
I can imagine how heavily this is weighing on you. I don't have any advice other than maybe trying to visit as often as possible to give him loving. Maybe your presence would help reassure him. There is likely a recovery element too from such a big surgery, and the changes. Jack and you are in my prayers for him to start eating soon so that he can come home to you. He is a lucky boy to have such a loving mom to get him the care he needs. |
I really feel for you and jack :( what a tough time you're both going through. As worryingly as them not eating is, perphaps it is due to psychological upset more than his physical pain. Maybe focus on his fusses, cuddles and anything you know he loves to try and perk him up and hopefully eating will follow. Really hope he's eating for you soon. Prayers to you both xx |
