Possible obstruction, PLEASE help. Chewie had a snack before bed. She was at doggy daycare all day. She threw up at 4am greeted us, and went back to bed with my husband. The vomit had plastic. Undigested. She went right to sleep 5 minutes after the bags were put away and woke up for a snack The little bit of those plastic shopping bags were right there where we put them away with evidence she ate some. One piece had some torn off. It is around the same size as what I saw in her stomach. Mostly digested food with some larger pieces not. She's not nauseated and isn't throwing up. She's been scooting for a few days and I was about to make an adrenal gland purging. I am scared to death and very upset. I really need to know what to do. Vet is closed for 2 hours, and by the time we get out of the house they'll be open. |
I got some answers, but it helps to vent. Thank yo uas usual for letting me at least type it out. |
What answers did you get? Is she ok?? |

I just re read your post...honestly if this just started it probably is ok to wait. You don't see signs of obstructions that quickly. Maybe it is just an upset tummy. Definitely saying a prayer for her...and for you. Try to relax....I think she will be fine. As for the scooting...that could be the anal glands. The fact she is not vomiting is a good thing....keep us posted. |

Hi, I was wondering if you have an update? Is Chewie ok? |
Praying all is OK with Chewie. |
The vet team isn't going to cut in on her willy nilly, which I really appreciate. Her stomach was palpitated, and no reaction. I'd say that was encouraging, but Chewie only shows pain to me. I wasn't in the room when they did it all. I will say when my silly billy goat got fluids she perked right up and was able to back talk a dog that looked like the one that attacked her and my daughter. She's currently on the top of the stairs waiting for my daughter. They have her on the anti-anxiety meds that is so close sounding to the Flagyl generic that I'm quite certain I won't pronounce it right, or spell it. Any way, she got a dose- butterscotch. If this doesn't stop her vomiting the next step is xrays. They have down possible gastroenteritis (which she's had twice) or colitis, based on the random thin poops and random constipation, and runs. It's not even every month that it happens. Thank you for the thoughts and prayers. I really hope this helps her heal fast. Only thing that makes me tense is the fluids. Last time they gave her fluids she held on to a bubble for almost a month. The vet explained why it could happen, so I'm feeling okay about it. |
Keeping her in our prayers. |
Wasn't able to check until now. Happy to hear that the vet doesn't think it is too serious. Will check back in the morning to hopefully hear that she had a good night ! :) |
I hope Chewie is doing well this morning. Happy to hear she perked up with the fluids and meds. |
