Surgery bandages off and shocked! 12 days with ace bandages wrapped around entire hind legs , both.... Upon removal and surtures removed, she looks like a skinned squirrel....not to mention, "IRRITATED AREAS" which are several spots rubbed raw from the bandages all over both legs. She practically wanted to EAT herself licking... I quickly coned her and dabbed neosporin on it as soon as I got home and had to keep her like that looks like all night. Dr said along with airing it , it will heal in a few days. Omg...is THIS normal?! |
Sounds awful... poor thing must be so uncomfortable. Wishing a speedy recovery, I'm sure it will be better in a few days. |

I would imagine it would be SOOOO itchy, and yeah, it would feel good to lick/scratch, but you gotta make sure she doesn't do it. Keep a cone on her and she will heal faster. I guess I missed it, but did she have LP surgery? or why did she have to keep the bandages on for so long? |
Hope your dog will recover faster. |
Poor thing! :( Hope she feels better soon! |
Can you post a pic...? Sutures can indeed look very irritated and there can be lots of hematoma in the area too. Poor sweetheart...hope she feels better soon. You may also want to apply some anti-itch cream. |

Yeh , she had LP surgery on both knees ...Izz might be next, she is to have X rays in a month when Zoey goes back for hers... Don't you think that is too long to keep the bandages on? |

Poor sweet baby, hope she starts healing quickly, that has to be soooo uncomfortable and sooo itchy for her. |
Poor baby... hope she heals quickly:) |
Thanks everyone It's just going to be a " moniter lick day" |
Poor Zoey! I hope her skin recovers quickly. My only experience is with humans in casts. The skin usually ends up pretty dry and itchy. Best wishes for your adorable little Zoey. |
Poor baby girl. Hopefully it will heal quickly. The surgeon I use only puts a small bandage over the incision and that comes off in a couple of days usually on its own; so, i have not had to deal with anything like that. You could ask your vet for some Gentocyn spray....that stuff really helps with the inflammation and itching. It has an antibiotic which she may not need, but I use it for superficial skin issues when they are irritating. |

She's a little reluctant to walk without the support of her "stilts" but if I say " let's go check out the chipmunk holes" she's all for it...into the yard we go from one " fake " hole to another ....lol |
