Red dots on skin (help) 1 Attachment(s) My yorkie has red dots on her skin, and it has been like that for several weeks now. It started one night- her skin started itching and she was running around and could not sleep for hours. She was only scratching. Her skin was also very red. Next morning we went to the vet but the doctor did not know what was causing it (also did some skin tests and analyzes but did not find anything wrong) so they gave us medication against the itchiness. Now her skin is normal again (not red), but the red dots are still on her skin and it does not seem to go away... Does anybody know what might be the cause for it? Or what should we do? |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Poor baby! Looks like an infection, pyoderma, that will require an antibiotic to heal. I would take her to the vet again. |
Poor thing...have you changed your laundry soap or new chemicals about? Other than going to the vet I have no clue. So sorry. When you find out please post the results. |
I agree w/ Maximo. Looks like pyoderma to me which is an overgrowth of the skin's normal bacteria, staph intermedius. It's very easily diagnosed by just scraping the skin and looking to see if there is bacteria under a microscope. It's treated w/ 30 days of Simplicef, by mouth. If left untreated, it will spread for sure. |
Is your grass high? Sometimes I see those bumps on my dog (who isn't a Yorkie) Sometimes I think it is irritation to grass. Or possibly ant bites? |
Hope you figured it out this infection keep us update hope your dog is treated now. |
