Lomotil for CT...Does anyone know how expensive this is? r/o Our Sam's Collapsing Trachea is normally well-controlled but ever since his recent bought with severe Pancreatitis it's been a little out of control. I was reading in the threads that some of you use Lomotil liquid, but I can't find a price on this. The one name brand I saw on 'goodrx' was in the $200+ range. Between all the diagnostics, ultrasounds, 1 night in ER and 4 days in ICU, we are out over $6000 in the last two weeks. So, adding another $200 is worrisome. If you personally use Lomotil or know anyone who does, can you let me know how much it is? Thanks! |
As a side note, he takes Prednisone twice daily, Valium 3x daily and Benadryl. This has done this job in the past, but again, since he's been home from the hospital this isn't cutting it. Thanks. |
Lomotil is an inexpensive drug. I have only used the pills...they are tiny and easy to give. You might want to call your local pharmacy and ask about pricing. So sorry Sam is having a difficult time. Hope he is better soon! |
Ladyjane, thank you for replying! If the pills are inexpensive I would think the liquid would be as well. Do I just ask the pharmacist for the price of the smallest bottle of liquid? My vet is not in today or I would simply ask her. I always get Sam's meds at the vet's office so going through a regular pharmacy is new for me. |

I don't have a clue if there is a liquid form. It may have to be formulated. |
Yes I know I need a prescription, I just wanted to familiarize myself with the options (and pros and cons of each) before going in to discuss it with my vet. We've never tried meds with narcotics before now but based on what I've read Lomotil sounds like it might be our best bet. It definitely comes in liquid form. Thanks. |
