Jake has hookworms! Yep, all this time I though it was colitis, the first vet I saw was not my original vet and she said he was negative for them, but this last week he went back into a flare, we took him in and he has hookworms. Now my vet is wondering if this is in addition to the colitis or is there no colitis and it's always been hooks. Apparently you can get a false negative test even in you have them on a dewormer. I use Sentinal. Now Jake is on Panacur and I saw an improvement that very day. Anyway my other dog was tested and my cat and they both came back negative so that's good. Has anyone had any experience with hookworms and the treatment, I'd love to know. |

I know when I adopted My Allie 5 yrs ago, she had hook worms, but then her previous owner didn't have her on Heart Worm Medication that also covers that as well. We treated and have not had a problem since. |

I'm glad you have a diagnosis, so that's great for healing! Weird that he got it though...do you think you could've missed a dose of Sentinel? |
I'm happy to hear that Jake is doing well with the Panacur. How long does he have to take the med? |

Or the Med cycle was off when I brought him home and have him the Sentinal. My vet explained if there were missed days it could happen because of the worm cycle. Idk, either way I am just so happy that he has not had stomach issues or bad breath since we did the dewormer last week. :) |
