anxious behavior With her issues, I really wanted to get some answers. My husband believes she's in heat- or starting it. Shes' been very clingy, then suddenly wants nothing to do with us. She's been growling if she feels crowded, and she'll also scream out if her hip area is touched. NOT her hip bone, but near there. And it's not all the time. She's running, jumping, and playing fine. She's also rubbing up against us frantically- not in a sexual manner or anything, she'll just get super super affectionate and want a LOT of contact on her side. She's peeing so much it's amazing. I put out another pad, and we got five spots in a two hour period. Her blood levels are all fine; only thing that was off was the bile test. She's not acting like she's in pain, just super SUPER pissed off if that one area is touched. I thought it was her hips, but she made no comment until I got about three inches above that area. Just as I was sitting here, she jumped up on the chair, hopped on my lap, whimpered, searched, got a toy and jumped down. She's just not comfortable. Any suggestions would be appreciated!! |
I wanted to add that hubby took her for a walk and came home when I was typing this; and she jumped in my lap then. He said that she was almost rabid to get to a male yorkie poo named Milo, to the point where he had to pick her up and walk away. She does love other dogs and animals, but she's not like that usually. If this is indeed heat, I have to laugh because her spay is scheduled for next week. Sigh. |
how old is she? |
Hmmm...the screaming in pain thing is just not normal at all. I guess I'd be worried about something spine related..? I dunno :(. |

She's fine again this morning. I don't understand at ALL. She IS displaying some of the signs.. and it seems to be worse as the day wears on. It's puzzling me. |
I am just wondering if it could be possible she has a UTI? You said she is peeing so very much and could the area you are touching where she cries out be her kidneys? She could be coming into heat as you said but I had one dog who would get super affectionate when he wanted something. Could she be trying to tell you she has a problem when she is being so affectionate?Just food for thought. Hope you find the reason for the problem though whatever it is. |
what day is her spay? I think you should bring her for a check up asap. hugs |
Puppies come into first heat 6 to 8 months old so she's right in that time zone. Check her vulva daily if shes coming into heat it will get swollen. I too would be concerned with the yelping when touched in one area. |

I think we've figured out the yelping, but we ARE doing a scan during spay to be on the safe side. I think it happens when she's backed up, quite honestly. The colon is in that area? An x-ray when her bad GI issue happened showed she was seriously backed up. Showed me the colon on the x-ray. She spent four days going (solid) poop four times a day- seriously, after switching her to the z/d. I used canned, and boy, it really helped. I picked her up and touched that area, absolutely zero pain. I then observed her snap at my daughter, so.. I think it's a combo. Yes, we are training her. I actually had to do the alpha roll on her, which I REALLY didn't want to do. It worked, and is helping the biting. any way, thank you. The scan of the spine IS getting done. |
