Could it be pyometra? Please help! My little yorkie, Hashie, is turning 3 this July. She is currently in heat since about a week ago. This is her 4th time. I was going to get her spayed after this cycle. Her period is usually light and it was already starting to look watery yesterday. However, today when I came home from school, there were browny drips on the ground in a few spots around the house. Is this normal? Or could it be pyometra? I've heard that pyo usually happens in older dogs, and also happen 1-2 months after their heat cycle. If I'm not mistaken, she is still in heat since she only started bleeding 6-7 days ago. Could this be a UTI? What should I do? Oh and she isn't acting strange or anything. She eats normally, she is still active and playful. Thank you in advance for the help! |
Would it be possible for you to contact your vet and ask them these questions? They would know better what you should do. I am not sure what the problem could be myself and maybe someone else will get back to you on your questions. But myself I always phone my vet to ask serious questions that are troubling me like the ones you are concerned about. They could advise you I am sure. Hope this is some help and I hope your baby does well and has no serious problems. |
Here are some articles on pyometra symptoms and treatment: Pyometra - Dogs | Thickening of the Uterus | petMD http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet...ra-in-dogs/915 It sounds like it's not pyometra (at least not yet), but if the discharge is different from the way it was during past heat cycles, I would definitely check with a vet to see if something is wrong. |
