Yorkie Encephalitis I did a search for this and nothing came up so if I'm in the wrong area, please let me know. I am new and this is my first new thread post. I'm very sad about my 10 year old Yorkie, Sadie. Mid March, I took her in to get her booster shots for rabies and within 3 weeks she started having symptoms. (I had no idea the shots and symptoms were related until a month later having found out from an MRI what she has) Long and painful story short and $3,000 later, we now know she has Yorkie Encephalitis. She is home and on prednisone (4 mg/day) and she can walk again, eat without falling into her water or food dish, and seizures have stopped, but she is not herself. She sleeps a lot, seems depressed, and doesn't eat like she used to. I'm so sad for her. She's not in pain so that's good but she's definitely not herself. I'm so upset that I did this to her by getting her boosters but how was I to know this was even a possibility? I had no idea and thought I was doing what was best for her. I'll never have her vaccinated again and I'll never give her Bravecto or Frontline or any of the flea/tick meds as I believe that is what started her seizures 5 years ago. I took her off and 6 months later, no more seizures. Then she gets her booster and BAM seizures and encephalitis. It's so sad, she's such a sweet, loving, caring dog like I'm sure all of your Yorkies are. If anyone has holistic experience I would love to know about it. I ordered about $100 in vitamins and supplements for brain, joint health and I'm praying I can take her off of prednisone sometime as it's not safe long term for their little bodies.:unlove::unlove::unlove: |
