Lymphangiectasia Has anyone had a yorkie with this disease? If so, how long were you able to maintain their health with treatment? I know this is what I'm dealing with. We have had several episodes and treated it successfully. However, Copper is not responding well this time. We will be at the vet tomorrow once again. He has had this about a year. Its onset is at 5 years usually and that is exactly when it showed up. Copper turned 6 in December. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks, Lynn |
No experience but wanted to say I'm thinking about you both. |

I have a pup with lymphangectasia...actually two but the one is not as bad as the other. I have two threads about her....Cookie is her name. She was diagnosed in Dec. 2011 and is doing well. She had one flare up a few months back and is on prednisone (low dose every other day) still. I don't know if they will take her off this time. She is thankfully doing very well. Maybe these threads will help you in some way....feel free to message me if you have any questions. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...ia-update.html http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...g-protein.html |
I should add that one of the most important things in lymphangectasia is the diet. I opted to home cook for Cookie and I really think the diet was what helped her the most; but many people do use the low fat RX diets and they do well. |
I just re-read your post...you say you know this is what you are dealing with. You don't have a definitive diagnosis? If not, I highly suggest you try to get one .... in Cookie's case, I took her straight to a specialist and did the diagnostics so that I knew for sure what we were dealing with. There are just so many things that could be going on.... here is a good link: Intestinal Lymphangiectasia - Mar Vista Animal Medical Center For instance, if it was histoplasmosis, certain meds are needed. |
My pup has been diagnosed with this..I have to watch what he eats, and he is on prescription food and a fourth of metoclopramide twice a day, other than that he is wild happy healthy pup. |
