Injured leg I gotta start this with she IS going to the vet today, but they're not open yet. ;) At bedtime last night, everything was normal. I put our little Pippa on ̶o̶u̶r̶ her bed last night and went to bring our window blinds down. Well the blinds decided to come off the window and bring a few things down with it. :thumbdown Pippa was spooked by this and flew off our bed. We have steps for the girls, but I'm thinking she missed them, because she's walking on three legs now. Not using her back, right one at all. She didn't yelp, nor did she cry when my husband was feeling her leg. She is acting normal this morning except for not using the back leg. I think she'd be screaming if it were broken, but she's always been able to walk off ouchies before. She had a heck of a time figuring out how to go potty this morning too! Has anyone experienced this before? I'm wondering if maybe she hit it on the step in the middle of her ninja flight?? This poor girl just had all of her teeth extracted on Friday and was finally getting back to normal and now this! Poor, little Pippa! :2hearts2: |
poop! Vet said he's pretty sure, she tore a ligament in her knee. Won't know for sure until they do x-rays, which we have to wait to do because she will need to be sedated and she just had surgery on Friday. We're so worried now, her having to have another surgery so soon after the one on Friday!! |
Oh no, I'm so sorry to read this. I pray that she will be OK. |
Did they give you an anti-inflammatory for her? Hopefully, she just tweaked it and it will improve. If it is a torn CCL, yes, surgery is the best option. Poor baby girl. So sorry about this. Welcome to YT! :) Please keep us posted. |
They told us to continue with the Deramaxx she's on from her oral surgery. She's no better though, not even a little. She always walks it off when she hurts her leg, but she's not putting any weight on it at all. Poor thing, she has a heck of a time going potty and hasn't pooped in a couple days. I assume because of the pain. She eats, drinks and acts normal otherwise. They advised to wait until Monday to xray because of the sedation. |

Poor baby. :( I don't know if the sedation would be an issue...I have had many pups have multiple procedures in short time frames; but not sure they would do much if they did find out it was torn. Would they do that surgery sooner? You might ask if she could have Tramadol. Deramaxx is an anti-inflammatory. Helps with pain, but they might approve a pain med in addition. Can't hurt to ask. |

We don't know when the surgery would be, I imagine soon after the xrays, if needed. It's just so scary after the dental! They told us "they had a hard time keeping her under and her bp dropped but {either} she recovered or we recovered her"! But all my doggie mom ears heard was 'she woke up during surgery and she almost died!' |
Sounds like when my girl blew her patella out...hope you get answers soon. My girl had surgery. |

If you go with surgery on her leg I highly recommend that it is done by a board certified specialist in a fully staffed hospital. They usually have an anesthesia team. |
Praying for the best outcome for your little girl! |

Poor thing can't even play with her toys because of the stitches in her mouth. She's gonna be all sorts of sad after the leg surgery! I suppose they cast legs after this kind of thing? My husband tried wrapping her little leg just to help her hold it up, but she just tried to gum it off with her toothless, stitched up mouth. |
