My Augge Hello everyone, I joined this group because my 1 year old yorkie is loosing his hair pretty badly on his nose. I'm not sure what is causing it or if this is normal for Yorkies. I haven't notice any other things that are unusual about his. He seems very happy and content. I hope I hear back from some helpful people. Thank you. |
There a few things that could cause this from allergies to ringworm. Sometimes it's a matter of them just rubbing it off somehow. Does he push his nose under doors like when your in the bathroom & he's not in there but pushes his nose sniffing under the door or maybe sticking that nose through a baby gate or fence ? If not then I would get him to the vet for a diagnosis as it could be ringworm & that's contagious. |
Augge/ringworm? What are other signs of ringworm? Will his hair grow back when cured? He does stay in his kennel for three hours during the day. Possible he is rubbing his nose there. I'll try putting him somewhere else, will his hair grow back when he stops rubbing if it's that? Also thank you for your reply. |
I bet that's it, the crate as they often stick their nose in the square & just rest it there. Once he stops rubbing it off it should grow back. Do a search for pics of ringworm as it can look diff from animal to animal & from spot to spot. If it's ringworm he will be rubbing it on anything & everything as it itches. Oh & Welcome to YT :) |

If it's from the crate though, I'd be asking myself just how much stress he's under when in the crate if he's rubbing fur off. In my experience, only those animals who hate crating tend to do this. I've never crated, instead used the Iris Pen...bc all of mine despise the crate and I can't blame them. |
Thank you both so much for your inputs. I will put him baby gated in my shower room till things get better instead of his kennel. I'll also do research on ringworm. Again thank you. Glad I found yorkietalk. |
