10 Y/o Yorkie Keeps Trying to Urinate Hello everyone, Background Our 10 year old Yorkie Bailey is always trying to urinate. It seems like several times an hour she tries to go. Sometimes just a few drops, sometimes a more normal amount, and sometimes nothing. This has been going on for about a year now. She has had pink urine a couple times as well. So far the tests and ultrasounds are normal but the problem persists. Lately she has been hiding in corners and staying outside all night which is very unlike her. Does anyone have any advice or help? Here are test results below. Thank you in advance. Vet Visits/Tests 9/15 Ultrasound report states: "thickened irregular bladder wall, small lumen with echogenic debris/suspected blood clot in lumen." Urine Cult and Suseptibility: No Growth Urinalysis & C+S(MIC): Negative, amorphous debris present(?) Perscription: Clavamox 2x a day until 15 ml bottle is gone 5/15 Vets did X-Rays for her urine problem and blood work because Bailey had to have several teeth pulled. All of these were normal. |
Hi - and welcome to YT :). So sorry your little one is sick. Something is most def going on here. The fact she is hiding and isolating is very concerning here. But how is she staying outside all night...? I'd put a fast stop to that bc of predators in your area...plus it's too cold at night for her. If I were you, I'd get to a Vet Internist asap rather than continuing to play guesswork with a generalist. I so hope you're able to find out what's wrong soon. Poor kiddo. |
Thanks Wylie's Mom. We are in the process of following up with the internist. We just feel a bit discouraged having seen them this many times and not knowing what's going on. Wondering if anyone has been through something similar and has insight to share. As far as her being outside, we haven't been letting her actually sleep out there. Thank you for your reply! |
Change vets...get another opinion from a specialist....there is a problem that requires intervention. |
I see you are in Ca. Do you have any foxtails in your yard ? She may have one up inside her. Those foxtails can go rite in there when they squat to pee. My 1st yorkie had this happen & the darn thing worked it's way up in her, traveled through the fallopian tube & came out her belly through her ovary. Something else that can cause these symptoms is Cushings also Diabetes. |
