Please Help! Burnt Paw Pads!
 

Hi! I actually came across this forum while I was looking up how to treat burnt paw pads and so I was hoping someone on here could offer insight..I feel so terrible, but I took my girl out for a walk yesterday and I didn't think it was too hot for her little paws.(im usually so careful, she has very sensitive paws) but after we get home and she's limping a little and licking at her paws. I checked them out and she has burnt paw pads and they look so painful. My veterinarian is absolutely booked to the gills this week and can't see us till next week! One of the techs/receptionist told me to try some dog balm and it would help her out, but I've never tried that kind of thing because we've never had a need to, so looking for some advice on a specific product. (My girl can only ever use natural dog products as she is allergic to basically EVERYTHING with any kind of chemical-including air fresheners, floor cleaner, etc)
So I think I found something she can actually use-but since i've never even heard of dog balm, so I was hoping to get some insight from someone who has. Has anyone used Walter's Dog Balm and is it effective and most importantly is it effective FAST? This is what Im talking about: http://dogbalm.com

I have never heard of Dog Balm and it may help, but it looks to me to be more for dry cracking paws, rather than for burns.

If it were me, I'd find a vet I could get into today so that you can get something for the pain and something topically for the paws to help them heal and to protect from infection. Something for the pain would be *key* and needed ASAP.

I agree with Wylie's Mom above. Find a vet who can get you in right away. It's important to have a vet who can see your dog in urgent situations like this when the condition cannot wait a week without proper treatment. Pain and infection would be my big concern.

I have to agree with Wylie's Mom and Maximo, vet now, how can a tech diagnose an injury over the phone, your pup needs a vet to look at paws, call any vet say it's an emergency because IT IS.

I agree with Wylie's Mom, Maximo, and Matise. I would definitely take your little girl to the vet. Depending on how bad the burns are, she might need a prescription antibiotic and a tetanus shot.

In the future, I like using chelates colloidal silver on wounds from burns and cuts. I also use Musher's Secret as a preventative. Both of these products are nontoxic if licked. I always feel the surface of the ground for temperature before I let Latie walk, and our walks are mornings and evenings.

I agree, you need a vet who will take you in if you have an urgent situation such as this one. If this were my pup it would be going to the vet ASAP. Burns are not a wait situation & can become a systemic infection very fast, especially on the feet. This baby needs a vet now , not next week.

I would not want to wait, see if you find anaother vet, you dont want a infection on the feet, good luck
