LP puts strain on the ACL and can cause ACL tears. I would speak with an orthopedic surgeon and see what there opinion is. Callie at 5 had a partial tear in her ACL so they fixed that and her LP in the knee at it was around $3000. At 7 Callie was showing pain in her other knee a grade 3 so we got surgery and is was $1000 cheaper because there where no ACL issues. In a younger dog a year or less I would be more apt to fix the LP before the ACL gets strained and weakened. Plus they have so much life to go that it would be better to do them now then later and when it becomes an ACL issues. Its a rough surgery with an 8 to 12 weeks recovery and crate rest that whole time but its do able. LadyJane knows a lot about LP you might want to send her a pm. |
