Help My 1 year old yorkie Remy suddenly started walking with his head down and was in pain, I took home to the vet and was told he pulled a neck muscle. But then he started dragging his back legs. Took him in again and they did blook work and xrays. Everything came out fine. But now all his legs are stiff and stuck out front of him. Help please |
I am very sorry for Remy and you that this is happening. Sounds like something is going on with his back, or something neurological, or a combo. Is there any possibility he injured himself? A more remote possibility is AAI, although I hope it is a good sign that Remy's xrays appear to be normal (are they going to be read by a radiologist?): https://www.acvs.org/small-animal/at...al-instability I believe there is one more neck/spinal thing that Yorkies can have, although still relatively rare. I'm sure other members will have more info/suggestions. I believe it would be a good idea to take Remy to a neurologist as soon as possible. I would keep him crated in the meantime. Please keep us updated. |
Chiari is the other rare health condition I was thinking of: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canine...e_malformation |
I agree, keep this baby crated & get to a neurologist ASAP. The other thing is Chiari Malformation & both AAI & Chiari can be life threatening but with prompt & proper treatment dogs can live a long & normal life. AAI can be diagnosed with x-ray but Chiari takes MRI to diagnose. |

Rather safe than sorry....crate this baby and see a specialist ASAP....NEUROLOGIST.....could be something pulled/pinched/sprained in the spine, but could be life altering/threatening. You want an accurate diagnosis and proper treatment immediately. |
Please update as we all worry about all pups. Thank You ! |
How was a pulled muscle diagnosed? And were xrays done? If not, I'd most definitely want them done asap. |
Please take a minute to let us know how this pup is doing and what was wrong. It will help our general knowledge base, and it is only polite since so many caring people took the time to try and help you with your problem. |
Remy gained his wings today. |
I am so sorry. I am sure you are devastated. |
I am very sorry for your heartbreaking loss of Remy. Rest in peace, Remy. |
How sad. I am so sorry. RIP Remy |
I am so so sorry for your loss...........:( |
dog I am so sad little Remy has gone to rainbow bridge . It breaks our hearts to lose a faithful friend. All of us know that pain and will send prayers of comfort to you and your family. |
It always hits like a kick in the gut to hear that one of our own has crossed over the rainbow bridge. When it doesn\'t hurt too much can you tell us what happened to Remy? How old was he? |
