Grooming Ouch Any suggestions on how to bandage/keep a bandage on a dogs's hind leg...I took a little nip out of my baby's leg while grooming her and now she will not leave it alone. I feel like such a bad mom !!!!! I tried wrapping it with gauge but she won't leave it alone... I am just worried about dirt getting in and it getting infected...Should I cover it up? Any suggestions??? |
Put a cone on her so she can't get to it. Unless it is severe she might be ok someone posted on here about her puppy having stitches which it eventually removed the bandage, and the stitches and it healed just fine. Accidents happen....you're not a bad mom especially when they decide to wiggle instead of being still. Buddybear is only one year and wiggles when being combed and brushed....he goes to the groomer for cutting as I don't know if or when I will try to use scissors or the clippers by myself. |
Thanks Buddybear, I got my baby when she was 12 weeks old, she is now 6. I have always groomed her myself and this is the first time nicking her....I am still keeping an eye on it hoping to see it start to scab up.... Quote:

Unfortunately, I've given Katie a couple of surface wounds, even though I try to be very careful. I've used Bactroban on her, which is a prescription antibiotic ointment, and my vet said that's fine. Neosporin should also be okay, but I always check with my vet because I worry about Katie licking things. I've also used colloidal silver on her, and it helped a lot with a hot spot that she had by her mouth, most likely from an insect bite. She was also given Clavamox by our vet. He told me that the chelated colloidal silver spray most likely helped to dry the hot spot out. We have been dealing with a paw pad injury for the past couple of months, which my vet said has healed up beautifully. Katie still has a lot of scar tissue from it, and I've struggled to keep her from biting it, so I know what you're going through. They sell vet wrap with something bitter on it, but I haven't had the heart to use it on Katie. I hope your little girl heals quickly. |
