Raider is at the ER and needs your prayers Raider and Addie just turned 6 months old. Last night about 10PM, Raider started throwing up. At 2am, I took him to the ER and an x-ray showed something in his stomach. They put him on an IV and watched him during the night. Today, they took two more x-rays and gave him an enema. Blockage still hasn't moved but he did have a big bowel movement. He is still throwing up even with several doses of anti-nasea medication. They are going to take x-rays at 10PM tonight and if the blockage still has not moved, they will recommend exploratory surgery. Addie and Raider will eat anything they can get their mouth on. We watch them closely and they are always on a leash, but even so they occasionally are able to enjoy a big fat bug or a baby frog. We ask that you send up a prayer for our little guy. Addie seems lost without him. The vet asked use to be at the clinic at 10:30, so wish us luck. |
I m always worried about my Yorkie eating something they shouldn't, Praying for your Yorkie, |
Keeping lil Raider in my prayers that this is not a serious blockage and surgery not needed. (((hugs))) to you. |
Thanks for all the prayers. Raider's blockage is starting to break apart and move. He seemed more like himself and the nurses said he is starting to bark at the other patients. What? Raider bark? They must be confusing him with another dog. We also had to take Addie to the vet this morning because she stopped eating. We suspected teething problems and vet gave us some canned food and 3 doses of pain medication and she is eating again. And, if that wasn't enough, when we were leaving the house to take Addie to the vet, there was a squirrel in our drive that had been hit by a car. Still alive, but definitely injured. Wasn't there when we returned or that would have been another vet visit. We're going to bed! |
Hoping Raider is continuing to improve! and that Addie is not into trouble also! |
How are the 2 kiddos this morning? Hope everything is improving... |
I hope both of your babies are feeling better very soon. I am praying that Radar's blockage passes through without any damage or surgery. |
We picked Raider up this afternoon and he is doing fine. The blockage passed, he has been eating small, bland meals and is peeing and pooing. Addie is eating better now that her brother is home. Hopefully, in a couple of days we will be back to normal (whatever that is!). Thanks for all the concern. |
Sooo happy to hear Raider is on the mend. |
Very glad to hear everything worked out for the best |
Did they happen to examine the poop to see what it was Raider had ingested that caused him so much distress? Since he was able to break it all down and pass whatever it was, I was just curious if they examined the poo to see what was being passed.....Thrilled he is doing well without surgery..... |
sending prayers |
Glad to hear that Raider is getting better! |
Yeah, what was it? My little one won't keep his mouth off the ground every time we are out. Even on a leash he is so fast and bamb! It's in his mouth. Sometimes we get it out and sometimes his jaws are LOCKED! |
They didn't try to identify it. The dr's best guess was a piece of bone. It was pretty broken up when it passed. |
Glad to see that your baby is a lot better. I'm reading this asking myself if my dog has blockage :( yes... what is it with dogs putting EVERYTHING in their mouths and just eating it!!!! Sometimes I see her chewing on something and I see nothing is in her mouth... gosh it can be stressful!! |
So glad to hear Radar is feeling better! |
Just read this post. Happy to read in the end that things are going well:) My, what a worry these little ones cause and with good reason, as they are SO darned cute! So glad to hear that things are getting back to 'normal'. |
You made us laugh. "Just so darned cute". We mentioned that to each other several times last week while Raider was in the ER and the expenses were adding up. |
Happy that Radar is doing good. I have always had the problem of my yorkies eating anything and everything they find, Cody is the worse of them all, if it crawls, hops or wiggle's, it's in his mouth. |
dog I am so thankful little raider is fine. My teddy peanut had a stomach obstruction. He was 10. He passed away because of it. I don't know what it was but know we have to watch because they eat things. Prayers of gratitude raider is his cute self again. |
