Questions and Should I be Concerned Our yorkie recently started shaking whenever he is anxious or excited. He literally vibrates, and then this morning he was sitting beside me. His front paws in a lying down position with his butt in the air? What could this be? His nub of a tail is down too. I am off to work but worried about the little guy. Would love to know if any of you have experienced this....he is going to be 9 years old. Thanks |
One possibility: There is a person in the Facebook YorkieTalkers' group who posted a video of her Yorkie doing the play bow position that you are describing. Her Yorkie has a spinal problem, a potential disc issue. Shaking can be a sign of anxiety or pain. If your boy continues to do the 'play bow' position or shows any signs of not being able to hold his head straight, or has difficulty with his legs, see your vet. If you are on Facebook and want to find the video, let me know. |
I would definitely take him to the vet to be checked out. Does sound like he may be having some issues with his back. Please keep us posted. |
My Marcel does this exact position if/when his tummy is bothering him. Did you start any new foods or treats? Is his tummy making noises? Is poo okay? |
Thanks everyone!!!! Marcel you were right. It was his tummy, and I had caught him eating grass just a wee bit earlier. He may have been trying to calm his stomach with the grass I'm thinking?? He had already had a looser BM, and then I could hear his tummy grumbling :( The shaking is a separate issue, but seems to coincide with when he is anxious, nervous or needs to go outside. |
If this continues, I would get him to the vet for a check up. The shaking may not be a separate issue....hard to say but sounds to me like a vet should check him out. |
