Uti? What are signs? Sunni was spayed last month and seemed to be fine afterwards. She had some sort of episode where she was lethargic etc, which I posted about and took her to vet. That problem is resolved. Liver count normal. This week I notice she started to have teeny accidents. I thought she was just over excited, because she always is zooming around. Yesterday it was getting worse with the accidents. I was home all day and letting her out frequently, but she still had accidents. This morning after she ate, she peed by the bowl in the kitchen, as if she couldn't make it outside..I brought her out but the damage was done by then. Now she is licking herself like crazy. I washed her with some warm water with apple vinegar cider in case there was something in the grass thats bothering her. Anyway, if it is a UTI is there a home remedy? I swear if I go to the Vet for another Sunday ER visit, I will scream!!! She never needs the vet on Tuesday mornings, lol. Always Saturday night, or Sunday when its an emergency to go to the office..ugh. |
When one of my pups had UTI they did pee a lot, they were young, not yet house broken, so they would pee on their paper. I don't think UTI is a ER visit, I think it is ok to wait and bring her in on Monday, thing is, you'll be cleaning up after her all day. Maybe one of our more medically savvy gals will come along and be more helpful then me. Poor little Sunni, if it's not one thing it's another, sweet little girl, give her extra hugs and smooches from me today. |
Thank you Joan. I know this poor lil girl does have one thing after another but it never keeps her spirits or attitude down. The apple cider vinegar on her lil privates has helped her stop licking at it..so maybe we can wait till tomorrow. My kids are on their way over to go out for lunch…and my daughter is dropping off her English Bully for me to babysit for 2 weeks:eek: Bear is a gentle guy..only 1 yr old, so I don't think there will be any problems. Too late now, I said I'd take care of him. lol |
Some dogs get UTI after spay surgeries...my Princess did. You should take her in to get checked just in case. Not necessarily an emergency, so you can take her in on Mon. |
I would get her to drink more and see if that helps. You can dilute a small amount of chicken broth or just add a 1/2 teaspoon of honey to a little warm water. See if the increased water helps flow urine better. If not, then take to the vet. |
Thank you all for the replies. Yes, she is drinking quite a bit but its pretty hot today. I filled up the baby pool and she jumped right in, lol. Of course its just a giant water bowl for her (only 3 or 4 "s of water). I have my daughters 1 yr old English Bulldog now for the next 2 weeks, and he LOVES the baby pool, haha. I have to say they are hysterical looking together. She's still just peeing randomly but bigger puddles at least..and she is getting to the door in time (I put a pad there). So, we can make it till tomorrow. I'm already tired from Bear walking me, Sunni and Harry 3 times today, haha. He's so strong! I am not used to that at all. I will have him totally leash trained by the time my daughter and son in law get home!! (new goal) |
My little JR terrier had a UTI a few months ago and because she is almost a perfect little girl ( she was a rescue and is 8 today) she never peed n the house but had to go out an awful lot for her, when I called my vet she said next time she goes wipe her with a white cloth and see if there is any knd of blood. Sure enough there was a teeny tiny bit so took her in the next am and she was given antibiotics and was fine in a few days. |
Oh thats interesting AnneClaire. I did wash her down there with a white wash cloth earlier and no blood, but I will do that again after I walk her. She may have licked off any sign of blood before I washed her. Thank you. |
LOL Oh yes they are quick that way! I just stood behind her and before she could shake or lick I swiped her! lol Good luck. |
