Sunni is acting strange right now Hi everyone, I'm really not able to tell if there is something actually wrong with her or not. She woke up perfectly fine, when outside to potty ate her breakfast. Seemed perfectly normal. She hasn't been up on furniture to jump down. Now she is just whimpering to be held. Her gait is normal, but when I picked her up she wells like she is hurt. I checked her paws, and all over her body trying to see if I could find a sore spot, but nothing until I try to lift her again. Right now she is standing on the floor with her back arched up a little bit. The vet is closed on Sunday but I left a message with the answering service. Waiting for them to call me back. Meantime, does anyone recognize any of these symptoms? She's really not acting like herself at all. |
When you picked her up how did you do it, did you put your hands around the middle of her body then lift her up? I ask this because, several years ago I had taken Matese to the vet forget the reason why. My usual vet was not on call that day, but I had the next best vet that I liked and trusted. I forget the reason why, but, he picked her up around her middle and she let out a little yelp, said Pancreatitis and had the tech run tests on her. I am saying BS, it's the way he picked her up. I have always picked up my dogs by scooping them up, right hand under butt, left hand under their front legs. On a couple of occasions a friend of mine had picked Matese up around her middle and she yelped, I thought their grasp must have been to tight, Matese was a 17 LB girl. As it turned out Matese did have Pancreatitis, I never saw her with an arched back tho, but it's just a thought. Even if the vets office calls you back, I would still bring her in, arched back does not sound good to me. Hopefully others with more knowledge on arched backs will offer up advise / suggestions. |
Thanks Matese. The vet did call back and will see her at 11:45. There is another emergency before us. I'm just glad they have ER office hours. I did pick her up under her belly and her butt…I've been careful because she's recovering from that surgery. At first thats what I thought it was, maybe I hurt her little belly. But since I posted this, I can see that it is definitely her front left paw. She's got the shivers so she's in pain. She walks fine, but when standing holds the paw up. When my son just came downstairs, she limped over to him, and now stands on 3 legs. She's in her xpen until its time to leave for the vet. Its awful to see her hurting and looking at me, like..please mommy can you fix this now:( |
Seeing your baby in pain is a horrible feeling. I hope all goes well. |
I REALLY wish they could talk. Just watch her very carefully until you get this diagnosed. I wonder if there is any chance she got stung by something when she went outside? If she vomits, rush her to emergency. Keep us posted. |
We are leaving in a few minutes. I will let you know how she's doing. It is awful looking in her little eyes and not being able to fix her. |
So happy you can get her in today to see the vet. I am sure you checked in between her pads to make sure nothing was stuck in there, sometime Cosy gets 1/2 shell acorns stuck between pads, it's the arched back that concerns me. Yep, sometimes I do wish they can talk, tell us where it hurts, I would rather suffer in pain then to see my babies sick. When you get a chance please update us on lil Miss Sunni.(((hugs))) |
I am just seeing this and praying for Miss Sunni. So good to be getting into the vet quickly. Please let us know how it all goes when you are able. |
Praying that Miss Sunni is ok. |
Thanks everyone for your concern:) Happy to say it wasn't very serious. Do you know when you have a terrible toothache and make an emergency appt with the Dentist, only to get there and it doesn't hurt…WELL..I got to the vet and Sunni just dazzled them with cuteness. I put her on the floor and she was walking around perfectly fine!! Luckily the techs were there because eventually she started to limp again and sat hold up her left paw. Of course the vet saw the perky Sunni, lol. But the paw/leg is sensitive so she said it was probably a little strain or sprain, but nothings broken or out of joint. So she got an anti inflammatory, and as of this moment is right as rain. lol. I'm glad I got her to the vet today, so now I can relax!! :) |
Just saw this. I am glad she is okay and hope she continues to improve. Poor girl. They don't know how to tell you what is wrong and they don't know what to do about the pain either. |
Great, big sigh of relief. Vet visit always the way to go, better safe then sorry and now she has some meds. You will be able to sleep tonight. So happy to hear it was not serious, try to keep her calm the next few days, no jumping on and off furniture & beds. I know, with these little monkey's it's so hard to do. |
Great news! Happy healing to Sunni ! |
Thank you:) I wish there was a like button! lol |
Yayy! My neighbors dog did the same thing and it turned out she had sprained a muscle going down steps too fast. Got the same prognosis and is fine now. Glad they figured out what was wrong :) |
