help - luxating patella My 7 year old yorkie has luxating patella grade 3.... I am unable to afford surgery but hate to see her limp on 3 and hurt. Does anyone have any advice of how to help her or what to do? Thanks in advance. |
Is she really limping or hurting?? If so, it is probably not just LP. I have pups with varying degrees of LP and the board certified surgeon does not recommend surgery on them. Now IF it is a torn ligament, yes, surgery is indicated. Unless she is having extreme difficulty walking, a grade 3 is not a definite surgical case! |
try some opaws advanced mobility, it is a very good supplement, good for joints, cartlidge and everything |
I use Cosequin for arthritis in some of my seniors...advanced to Gly-Co Flex for the painful joints. Works wonderfully....can take a dog that will not even get up and walk, to one running and playing. |
dog I use dasuquin, get it through petmeds or at my vet. It is very good for this problem My Spud loves to chew it up. Very tasty. |
We just put Mikki on Glyco flex for her LP. Have you tried any of these for your pup? |

That is what my vet just gave Sasha (who just had surgery) |
OP, have you tried any of the joint supplements recommended here? These are all good, I can only PERSONALLY speak to three of them.....I have not used Opaws, but the other three I have used, and I can tell you, they are next to miraculous, especially if arthritis or any inflamation is present. |
We had ours in a month ago and were told Grade 3. We were doing a great job with the resting and walking a bit, but then... One day when he was on a harmless looking bit of road during the walk a neighbor popped into view. He pulled and lunged and then yelped. He tore the ligament. Surgery is next Monday. He's 5years old. |
