Hurting & very lethargic puppy yorkie. WTD? Lola is 11 weeks old and she is very smart & energetic. Over the past two days she's had diarrhea. Solid poop with runny mess behind it. She laid around all day so I decided to check on her in the night. She wasn't laying on her bed but was next to it. She looked stuck trying to get comfortable. I pulled her from the Crete & began to get her up & moving. Her hind legs would sit up very high as she began to walk. I figured it was just something she might try to walk off. She drank water but did not eat. Ten minutes later she was back to herself again. Following throughout the house...running. Woke up today and she looked hurt once again. She ate very well but did not drank. And she seem she can't hold herself up even after a good meal. It's appears to be the front legs now. They won't stay up. I massage her but she doesn't show any affection. What is causing my pet to appear lethargic or hurt? Is she injured? Or could this be dehydration? I plan for a vet visit in the morning as soon as they open. |
Hi and welcome to YT. What did the vet say? Was it hypoglycemia? I'd have some Nutrical on hand for if/when she looks weak. But if she is looking weak even after a meal, I'd be concerned. You may want to have her bile acids tested... |
Hope your pup made out well at the vet! |
Definitely update us on what the vet said. I don't have much advice but I'm concerned. |
Hope he is okay. Please keep us posted |
How is your puppy this am? |
Has there been an update I perhaps missed? |
Sorry for the late response but Lola is doing very well. She's back to her energetic life as a puppy. We took a visit to the vet and found her blood glucose level to be very very low. She rubbed karo syrup on her gums and began to check her fecal matter. There was a bacteria found that was causing her levels to drop tremendously. The vet gave us an antibiotic for the bacteria and a tube of syrup-like vitamin substance to keep her blood levels up. Another thing was to keep her eating. I was only feeding Lola twice a day due to my work schedule. Now she's eating more often & feeling a lot better. Thanks for all of your replies. |
