Please Help... I have a 6 yr soon to be 7 yr old yorkie named Duncan. Since late Sunday afternoon Duncan seems confused or dazzed at times. Yesterday we took 2 small walks and we played in the house for a bit. He still wants to eat and drink no vomiting, 2 weeks ago he had a case of poops that lasted 2 days and he's been fine since. His breathing to me sounds labored, he looks like someone trying to fight falling asleep from sedation but that only seems to happen while he's laying down. So late last night I was scratching his head and behind his ears and he became lethargic looked at like please help so I had my mom drive us duncan always whines in the car and wants to look out the window well not a sound from him he last laid curled up in my lap. Got inside he started shaking and peed but that I'm sure is his nerves since it was vet. Well he seemed to have perked up before they saw what i did. Dr. Checked him out nothing wrong, did blood work everything was fine. Yet he laying here right now he is doing the same thing. I don't know what it could be but I'm afraid to go to sleep or leave him alone. Any ideas... |
I would go back to the vet! Perhaps they should do a bile acid test on him. He could have a liver shunt. It also could be neurological,....but I would definitely go back to the vet! If your vet does not have any ideas and you know there is something up.....get him to an internal med specialist! |
Ladyjane is exactly right.... go back to the vet. Also, take little videos with your cell phone if you can, so you can show vet what you are seeing, that the vet is not. Hope you get answers, and try to update here when you can. We all worry about your little one. |
I'm ashamed to even say this but I can't afford another Vet Bill. I paid last night's visit with my rent money. I'm recovering from a brain trama that happened few months ago and disability is only paying me enough each month for rent and a few bills. I sound like a horrible pet owner but I'm not. Duncan isn't only my baby but my best friend. I'm crying as I type this and he comes over to comfort me with his blanket and squeeze toy..love my little man. |
How sad a situation! I would suggest perhaps going on line and signing up for a GoFundMe account....relate your story and perhaps you will be able to get the funds needed to care for your pup. I have seen great success with this approach! Praying for you and your pup, I know how it is to be financially strapped and have a sick pup....I have hocked jewelry and even treasured heirlooms to get the money I needed to get my pup the medical care he needed. Talk with your vet about possibly setting up a payment plan so you can get your pup the care he needs. Praying for you and your best friend.....please keep us posted on your pup's progress. |
Bile acid testing is only about $80. Call your vet and see if he might do it and wait for payment. Let him know that your baby is still not doing well! Maybe he will work with you. |
Bless your heart! How very sad. Your pup really needs your help. I do know from experience if it is neurological bills are astronomical. But the specialist will work with you. Prayers are with you and your baby |
