Hair loss HELP
 
My yorkie has lost a large portion of her hair. It is not due to thyroid she was very sick a year ago but doing well now. I rub her down with coconut oil and lavender to help her skin . Give probiotics and feed her avoderm grain free. Any ideas on what else I can do. My vet does not know why this happened.

Hi and welcome. I would have her checked for Cushings.

I agree with Ann I woud have her checked. . .if it is not. What are you feeding her ? Food makes a difference. Also I would add coconut oil to her morning food or a treat. Then I would give her fish oil in the evening meal. It helps their coats from the inside

For starters I would stop putting all that stuff on her skin. It may be compounding things.

You might want to consider a dermatologist....I am sure they would want to rule out Cushings as suggested by Wylie's Mom; but a specialist may be better for this.

I am feeding her Avoderm grain free red meat formula. The only thing I am putting on her skin is coconut oil and lavender which is very good for the skin. Her skin is very dry so this is helping it not be so dry. What can they do for cushings?

Perhaps a visit to a derm is in order. How do you know those things are good for her skin???

My vet recommended it. It is an all natural way to care for the skin rather than commercial chemicals.. There is nothing harmful in the oils I use. She has had a complete blood test and everything was normal. Her hair is slowly coming back but I was hoping for faster results.

Yes and your vet does not know why she lost her hair. I personally would be at another vet. While you say nothing is harmful it all depends ... you don't know if she could be allergic.

Melatonin can help with hair regrowth, but again, you should find out why this has happened.

A complete blood test does not test for Cushings...

My maltese had some unexplained hair loss on his face, I took him to the vet on several occasions and could not get a reason for it. I gave him a homeopathic product that worked wonders it was $20 and that was nothing compared to what I spent at the vet. He had bare spots on his face with no hair at all and in 1 week of giving him 3 drops daily I was able to see very visible results. Here is the link, they also sell it on amazon for cheaper.
