Prayers needed I haven't been active for a while but some of you may remember me. We are at Auburn University vet school with Sadie. I was in Florida visiting my daughter. My husband called Monday morning and told me that Sadie (our six year old yorkie) had a distended abdomen. I told him to head to the Vet's and I would call. It turns out that there was some fluid in her abdomen but there was significant fluid surrounding her left lung. He did blood work and her protein levels are low. He is baffled because it's only her left lung. I flew home and we drove to Auburn last night. She's in with the Dr now. We could use some prayers for this to be something that can be treated. |
Sending prayers |
Prayers coming your way. Take care and stay on the Drs to get answers. |
Oh goodness, please keep us posted. Sadie is so lucky to have swift (and exellent) vett care like you are providing. I hope they get to the bottom of it quickly and she will be on the road to a speedy recovery. Nice to see you here....so sorry it is with such a stressful situation. Prayers for Sadie.... |
I will be praying for your baby girl!! |
Thanks. We are waiting now for the Dr to come back with a diagnostic plan. |
Sending prayers for Sadie, and will hope for the best while we wait for updates. |

Sending prayers for Sadie and you. |
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your special little girl. |
We are back at the hotel. They are going to rerun the tests that my vet ran - they have better equipment. They also plan to do a bile acid test to check her liver, they are going to draw some of the fluid off of her lung to see what is in it, and they will probably do an ultrasound of her chest and abdomen. It's a process of elimination to see if they can get to the bottom of it. They are very nice. We brought our other Yorkie, Beemer with us because he's really lost without Sadie and they had absolutely no problem with it. Sadie's vet student Blake will be calling us later this afternoon. |
Both Sadie and Beamer stole my heart from the times I first saw them a few years ago. It was very apparent to me then, just as it is now, how very devoted you are to them and how very much you love them. It sounds like little Sadie is in great hands. Please continue to share about her well-being. I pray they find something that can easily respond to treatment. |
Oh my goodness. Lot's of prayers going out for Miss Sadie. I hope they have answer for you soon. |
We are on our way home from Auburn. We have a little news. This one is baffling! They tried to draw the fluid off of her lung today to test it and there wasn't any. They said that fluid like this doesnt self correct and the x-rays from Monday definitely showed it. Her protein levels are still low but unchanged. There is some damage to the left lung but it should correct. The ultrasound showed no tumors. We are taking her back to Auburn next week to retest. If her protein levels have corrected then we won't do anything. If they are still low she will either have a scope or exploratory surgery to biopsy her intestines. That's where the protein loss would be coming from. They will also recheck her lung to make sure it's healed. Leave it to Sadie to baffle Auburn University vet school! |
Sending warm wishes and happy thoughts for a speedy recovery. I will keep you all in my prayers. |
Looks like good news for Sadie! That really is amazing that the fluids resolved like that...but definitely encouraging. Will keep her and you in my thoughts and prayers. |
Prayers for your baby. |
sending prayers and good thoughts |
I am happy to read the encouraging news. Praying for your sweet Sadie. |
Prayers coming for Sadie coming right now. |
Sending prayers your way... |
Update: We went back to Auburn yesterday for a recheck. Sadie's Albumin and Cholesterol were up just a bit but not nearly in the normal range. Based on the improvement and how she's been acting (very energetic) the Dr's decided to not do a scope at this time. I'm to continue to monitor her weight and make sure she's not losing - or gaining fast because that would mean that the fluid is back. I'm going to have our local vet monitor her Albumin levels. If at any time they don't continue to improve we will take her back for the scope. We're not out of the woods yet but everything is looking pretty good! Oh - and the spot on her lung is still there but has improved some. It was enough improvement to convince them that it was from the fluid last week. I'm going to take her in locally next week to have her blood checked again. At least I can breathe a little bit now!! |
So happy to see the update and that Sadie is improving. Hope it continues until she is 100%. |
Prayers are great. Keep us informed. |
