Hemmorhoids?? I sent my Max to the Groomers on Saturday. When he came back he was very clingy and wouldn't leave my side. He has separation anxiety and I guess I have to learn to groom him otherwise my poor pup is going to continue to suffer and so am I!! :( Anyhow, the next day, has squirming around and I noticed his tail down all the time until I checked him and was wondering why he was scooting. When I looked it seems that hey may have hemmorhoids. Is this possible? I guess it is. My partner does not think so but I think it is. He kept me up half the night licking the area - urgh it's so gross. I feel so bad for him I had to come to work and I feel that I should have brought him to the vet. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks - I'm hopeful!!! |
Could be impacted/infected anal glands. I would take Max to the vet ASAP to have it checked out. Glands can rupture causing more problems, and the condition is painful. Glands can become impacted or infected for a variety of reasons. If your groomer is manually expressing Max's glands, I would make sure the groomer is doing it correctly. |
Thank you. I made an appointment for tomorrow. I feel so bad for my little guy. :aimeeyork |
Let us know what the vet says. Sending best wishes for your little Max. |
Poor little baby, Vet visit great, please up-date us, your information can help others should anyone's dog encounter such an issue. |

My groomers do not do this to my girl's, as I don't allow it. If there isn't a problem there is no reason at for a groomer to be doing this. I hope your guy is feeling better soon. |
I guess my groomer should have done it since it was obvious the glands needed to be taken care of. Thank you for your feedback. I do have an appointment tomorrow and will keep you all apprised. :aimeeyork:):):animal-pa |
So I took Max to the Vet this afternoon. He had impacted anal glands. She also noticed a polyp in his anal area which she will take at a look at a later date because he is so raw from scooting and licking that she can't do anything about that now. We have an appointment in two weeks to take a look at that further. What she did was drain the glands and because of the itching and pain he was having she gave him a shot that would ease the itching and numb the area so he would not pick at it so that it can heal. If anyone has any questions I will be happy to answer. Thanks for all of your concerns! Diana (Max's mom) :thumbs up:thumbs up |
Glad to hear the vet was able to determine what the problem is and that your little guy is on the road to recovery. Hoping the polyp goes away as he heals. |
Thank you so very much! |
You can do a warm compress on his bum a couple of times a day as it helps sooth the area. |
Now it's not even his bum. Now he is licking his tail. It's becoming raw and I'm sure very itchy. I have contacted the Vet to see what if anything I can put on his tail so that he can stop licking and his tail can heal. |
I've had this happen with Lexi. A warm compress, like a warm wash cloth works pretty well and I think it is soothing. That is if you can get them to sit with you and hold it on there. I also put Lexi in the sink with some warm water in it once a day and made it like a little spa, with treats of course. It seems like it is never going to heal, but it does. |
My Vet told me to get him an e-collar which I hate but if it's going to make it better I'll do it. I can't standing the constant licking and I know he is uncomfortable. I just want him to get better. I feel so bad for him. |
