Shaky and falling We have a 17 year old Yorkie. A couple of days ago she has been shaking and is having trouble standing up. She will be walking and just fall. Does not appear to be in any pain. We are able to pick her up and carry her and she is fine. At times she will be fine. Wanted to know if anybody has any information. Planning on going to vet on Monday. Thanks |
So sorry to hear this. Eager to hear what the vet has to say on Monday! Please keep up posted after the visit! |
Welcome to Yorkietalk. It's good to have you here. I hope your pup is ok and it is nothing serious. Looking forward to seeing a positive update tomorrow. |
Hope you baby feels better soon, keep us posted. |
Glad to see you are taking her to the vet tomorrow. It could be so many things I wouldn't even try to guess. Has she been eating? Wow, she is 17. I hope she is ok. Please post after you see the vet. |
It sound neurological to me. Please let us know after your vet visit. |
What did your vet say about your baby? Praying it is an issue that can be easily treated. |
Thanks for all the inquiries. Unfortunately after my last post she had 4 very bad seizure. We took her to an emergency clinic. The vet said it was either a tumor on the brain, possibly a stroke but not likely or a few other brain issues. We had to say good bye to our sweet girl last night. She was able to go peacefully as my wife and I held her. Both my wife and I expected it might end that way, but you are never fully ready for that possibilty |
I feared this would be the result, reason I could not put a reply on your thread, my heart was breaking for you. My last pup was 17 yo and I had to put her down Oct.1 2013. You're never ready for the loss of a beloved friend. I am so very, very sorry for your loss. (((HUGS))) to you and your DW. |
Your baby lived a wonderful, LONG life, which is an attribute to you and her! Seventeen years is a wonderful testament of her care and her breeding....but in spite of all that, we are never prepared to loose our beloved family members. I too was afraid of the outcome, especially at her age.....I have lived through that with several of my seniors.....it breaks your heart to see them suffering, and it hurts just as much when you do the loving, humane thing and let them escape from the grasp of incurable disease process or debilitating seizure activity....it is soo gut wrenching difficult....I am truly so sorry for you and what you are having to endure now. Keep strong, take comfort that she did live out her life to the very end, and she crossed over to Rainbow Bridge knowing and trusting you would do what was best for her. Your touch was the last thing she felt, your scent was the last thing she smelled, your heartbeat was the last comforting thing she heard, with your comforting soothing words to her.... Thank you for taking time to update us....I know it is not a good time....we appreciate knowing how your baby faired. |
I am so very sorry. I was not expecting this. My heart is breaking for you. Sending hugs to you and your family. |
Sorry for your loss I was sad to see your post. Just lost my (almost) 14 year old last week. Doesn't matter if they are 8, 14 or 17. We are never fully prepared to lose them. I hope you have lots of pics and videos...those have been helping me the past few days. God Bless You! |

So very sorry |
