Could Lyme disease cause this Jessie is an indoor trained dog with about 95% accuracy. About three weeks ago she started peeing right on my carpet in my bedroom at the door. Its always open and she has never done that before, Then she started peeing at the door of my daughters room to the bathroom. She has laid little poops on my family room carpet and the rug in the hall. I brought her to the vet but they couldnt get a sample but they treated her for a uti just in case. She finished the medicine last week but today alone she peed/pooped in the wrong place 3 times but in the right places all the others... My question, she was taken to the vet for a tick about 6 weeks ago. They said it looked like a dog tick and they couldnt find out if she had lyme for a couple months.... There are no changes in the house, routine or anything. Could she possibly have Lyme and its affecting her normal habits? Other than that she seems normal..Im about ready to diaper her at this point but she isnt even three years old..I hate to put her back in a cage as she had to be in one for 6 weeks when she broke her leg. She hates them and gets very anxious. |
I don't think this would be a Lyme problem. Has anything else changed in her life? Any changes in routine? I would limit her freedom to one smallish area with her pad -- either one room or an xpen (especially when you cannot supervise closely), like you are starting potty training over. A diaper may save your floors, but it won't help potty train. Change the pad often. Praise and reward her when she gets it right. When she gets it wrong, say "Uh oh!" and show her the pad. Use keywords to remind her to potty there. Make sure to clean up the accident spots with a cleaner that thoroughly removes the scent. Increase her roaming freedom only when she gets it right. |
yeah looks like I have to go back to square one. Nothing has changed in the house. I was hoping this wouldnt be necessary but I guess it is... I have a spot bot so I use the enzyme cleaner right away. |
How old is your baby ? Is she spayed ? if she's still a puppy & not spayed, it may be hormone changes leading up to her heat cycle causing her inconsistencies. |
She is almost 3 and was spayed 2 years ago.. |
