red bumps/lesions on tongue 1 Attachment(s) My 1.5 year old yorkie suddenly got these red bumps on his tongue. They look a bit like small lesions, but when I touch them I can feel that they are raised. I'm not sure what they could be from - he gets human food occasionally but he's never reacted badly before and I don't recall giving him anything that he hasn't had before. I sent the pictures to my breeder who told me it looked like burning (but he hasn't eaten been in contact with anything that would do that). She recommended that I wait it out to see if it gets worse, but they seem to be more inflamed today. He doesn't have any other symptoms, and is eating and drinking normally. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? Should I take him to the vet right away or wait it out? |
Vet asap. Sign of infection. Welcome to YT. Let us know what the vet says. |
I would definitely call my vet ASAP. |
That looks awful! I would definitely see what the vet thinks. |
Thanks, everyone. I took him to the vet first thing this morning and she said she's never seen this before and has no idea. She checked an expert database she has access to and still came up relatively empty handed. She asked me to email the pictures to her so she can be in touch with colleagues. Her working differentials are something abrasive (licking something hard and rough), licking something with harsh chemicals, allergic reaction to eating something, delayed allergic reaction to medication from a couple months ago, autoimmune disease. She told me to check around for anything prickly he may be chewing, and wait to see what happens. So, I guess I'll wait to see what happens and hope it clears up on its own. Thanks again! |
