Yorkie Allergy Question Hi there, My little yorkie, who is 3 years old, started sneezing constantly, is lethargic and sounds a little congested/snorty. She's never had any symptoms like this before. We did just travel with her and went from a cold to a hot dry climate, but have taken her on the plane many times and this never happened. She did also stay at a doggie day care one day on the trip, but she doesn't sound like she has a cough. I've taken her to the vet twice and they think it's some type of allergy. She doesn't currently have a fever and is still eating and drinking as normal, but just isn't herself and I'm worried about her and if it could be something other than allergies. Has anyone experienced something similar with their yorkies? Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!:aimeeyork |
Hi and welcome to YT :). Does she chew and/or lick her paws? If so, this is the cardinal sign of allergies, just fyi. For more on how to approach allergies, read this: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...tart-here.html But, I'd look into a few other things too....mainly, I'd have her teeth checked asap bc sometimes when dogs are having rotting teeth, the only sign may be nasal irritation or eye irritation. Is her breath bad or anything? |
Hi! Thanks so much for the info! I took her back to the vet today and they did find some bacteria on her nose and a few allergy cells when they took a nose swab, so started her on steroids and antibiotics. Hopefully those make her feel better and she won't need further testing next week. |
hope she is better soon, the steroids will make her pee more |
