Dog Flinches Hey. Has anyone had their dog start flinching when petting them around the head and neck? She doesn't do it all the time so of course she didn't do it when we were at the vet. They don't know what's wrong but they don't think it's her disc or a neurological issue. They guessed it's an intense muscle and gave a muscle relaxer a few days ago. That hasn't helped so I wanted to check if anyone has experienced this. Thanks. |
One of my dogs does that if you try try to pet the top of her head, but not the side or the back of it. Don't know why, but she's always done it. |
Thanks! I don't think it's because she doesn't like it because she always loved us petting around her head and would get relaxed when we did. There's something wrong but I don't know what. Hopefully the vet can figure it out next week but I'm worried they won't since she's not flinching when we're there. |
Update: we've been to 2 vets since this started and neither of them know what's wrong. Our regular vet referred us to the neurologist at UT. The neurologist at least saw her flinch and said it's her head. The MRI didn't show anything so they did a spinal tap to rule out meningitis or lupus. At this point they're not sure what's wrong and her pain is getting more frequent. We'll get the spinal tap results tomorrow. Anyways if anyone has experienced this with their dog please let me know. |
Just a real basic question(which I am pretty sure those 2 vets and the specialist checked out). Are you sure her teeth are okay? No decayed teeth or gum disease? I do so hope you get to the bottom of it. |
Yes they actually commentedd how good her teeth are Thank you. I hope they figure it out too. |
Spinal tap was normal. Yesterday the neuro said she doesn't think it's behavioral but they don't have another explanation for it. They were going to have us see the behavioralist but I can't afford this anymore. I cancelled the appointment. I don't know what to do now. I'm looking forward to a huge bill I can't afford with no answer and my poor dog is still hurting |
