Help I don't know what's wrong :( A couple weeks ago I noticed that my 3 year old yorkie was being very lethargic and not eating. She rejected the treats she normally loves. I took her to the vet and they said that she was probably just constipated but also gave me some rimadyl in case she was having back pain. With the rimadyl and constipation treatment, she was back to herself for a couple days, but the symptoms soon reappeared. She seemed to be in pain, and when you touched her a certain way she would help. We decided to continue with the rimadyl and now she's worse than ever. Last night she peed all over the floor and was very restless. I think she might have had a seizure, she's had one before. Now she's lethargic and her eye is swollen. I've read that rimadyl can have lethal side effects. Please help. |
I would take her to the vet right now. This is an emergency. Wishing your girl and you the best. |
Oh my gosh, your poor baby. Did she hurt her eye during the seizure? I think you need to get her back to the vet ASAP. Also, if back pain is suspected - please do an xray to confirm whether there are disc/spine issues. For flaring back issues, usually a regimen of steroid, pain med, and muscle relaxant are given. Please keep us posted on this precious one! |
Hi welcome to Yorkietalk, i'm sorry it's under these circumstances. Poor baby, It seems she is in pain and I would take her to a vet now. Did the vet you take her to run tests? If not then you could consider taking her to another vet. Please do keep us updated on your little one. |
It is Sunday, and this baby must be seen by a vet immediately, as this has gone on for an extended period of time already. Please get her to an emergency vet ASAP....something is terribly wrong., and you could easily loose her at this stage. As for the first vet......pain medication??? Why did he suppose she may be having back pain??? Keep us updated on this unfortunate little soul.....and I dont know....I would perhaps consider changing vets from that first vet? |
Please post an update. Poor thing :( |
Looking for update please. |
I hope you baby is OK. |

Hope that helps. |
IMO, this pup should be checked for a liver shunt. She deff needs an x-ray if spinal issues are a concern. If all checks out ok with labs for a liver shunt & nothing on the spine x-ray then I would be checking for Chiari. FYI, Liver shunt & Chiari left untreated can be fatal. |
How is your puppy??? I hope she is ok. |
