Heart Murmur Hi. I am a new Yorkie owner and I just took my sweet boy Napa to the vet for his 2nd round of shots. The vet found a heart Murmur. He told me that it is not unheard of in puppies. He also said that he hopes in the next 8 weeks it goes away. Do any of you have any experience with heart murmurs? Have they grown out of them by 20 weeks? I do know that if they do not grow out of them it shortens their life span…have you lost any of your sweet ones to a murmur? I just want to have an idea what to expect as I have a 7yr old and a 5 yr old who needless to say are completely in love with him. (as are my husband and I ) Thanks for any advice you can offer. |

Hi and welcome to YT :). So sorry to hear of your concern and worry over your little one, how scary. I have heard, though, that many puppies do outgrow their murmurs, so you may find that he will too. I know of many dogs that have lived full lives even with a murmur too. Please keep us posted on what you continue to find out, and best of luck to you and your little one....I know it's scary to hear anything at all is wrong w/ these precious ones. |

Hi and welcome to YT! I'm sure you will find that this is a great site with many, many, caring, knowledgeable, members. Stick around & you will learn lots! I'm really sorry you are going through the worry about Napa's possible heart problem. I'll say a prayer that he outgrows the murmur in a few weeks. |
