Pet Insurance Tried to look for another thread on this subject but could not find any. Although it is too late to get insurance for my puppy for her upcoming surgery; am thinking about getting it in the future. Can anyone provide feedback on pet insurance and possibly recommend a company? Basically I am just looking for insurance to help cover costs for major stuff, should they arise. Thank you so much. |
What type of surgery? I have embrace and if you take the wellness option, on top of their regular coverage, the wellness is in effect immediately. There is ,I think a 14 day wait period on accidents and illness. If you are having her spayed it's covered under wellness. I have the 500.0 deductible and wellness the total for my two dogs is around 79.00 monthly. I just did their annual checkups and bought a 6 month supply of sentinel for each dog. I was reimbursed 100% of the cost. It took about 10 days to get my check in the mail. I highly recommend them www.embrace.com |

Here is one resource on pet insurance plans: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...e-reviews.html Here is a thread about Healthy Paws insurance, and a couple others are mentioned: www.yorkietalk.com/forums/general-yorkshire-terrier-discussion/273216-trying-choose-insurance-company-healthy-paws-pet-plan.html |
Thank you so much! So far, a couple I looked at said that if a dog is showing symptoms of a disease (documented on vet records) but disease has not been diagnosed; it is still considered a pre-existing condition. :( |

I used to have PetPlan but now have Healthy Paws on all 3 of mine. I like the way they do their deductibles. Both companies are good, but I think HP is better in terms of why they raise their rates. |

Allright what you need to find out from Insurance Companies and be up front about the |liver issues - is what will or will not be covered going forward. And trust me, there can be a whole lot of other issues that can arise in the health of a dog long term, un-related to a possible MVD or LiverShunt. For now you are basically un-insured for what-ever Liver problem may be present in your gal. But there are a whole lot of other things health wise that can go wrong: eye disease - PRA, Cataracts, are too that spring to mind Orthopaedic issues - arthritis in any joint, don't know how old your dog is , but Leggs Calves Perthes, HD, ED, LP to name a few. Hypothyroidism Cancer of any nature CT as yet un-diagnosed Diabetes Cushings Allergies The list is large, and hopefully most if not all of these conditions would be covered through insurance, despite a pre-diagnosed Liver problem |
