A trip to the vet is needed today Yesterday I posted about Summer digging and wanting to hide. I know that dogs dig to make their beds more comfortable but I could tell this digging was something more. She would dig and roll her mattress under her belly. Last night I put her in her crate and again, she was digging like crazy. She actually was whimpering a little. She just wouldn't settle so I finally broke and did what I said I would never do. I brought her to bed. I noticed that as she layed beside me she was quivering. I tried keeping her covered but she wouldmove and start panting. 3 am came and I snuck her out of the room (leaving Wallee in his bed). She has finally settled to sleep beside me in a blanket. I dont really know for sure if she quivers from cold or pain from something but I am calling the vet as soon as they open. I sure hope they can figure out what is wrong. I do notice she is licking herself a little more and drinking more water so wondering if it could be a bladder infection or uterine infection or, something not related, her terrible teeth causing her issues. I know she needs a dental but since I should be getting a call any day for her spay, I didn't want her put out too soon before.....poor girl....I have no idea what is bothering her. :( |
Awww, poor little kiddo. I hope you're able to figure out what's bothering her soon. Please do keep us posted. Hoping it's something very minor! |
Back from the vet.Summer is experiencing a false pregnancy. I am having her spayed on Friday morning. |

Thanks Kristen. I knew she was acting very odd. Poor girl. That's another result of only being used for puppies I guess. The vet said she could actually experience mourning the loss of puppies that never came. I sure hope not. |

Thanks everyone. It has been an eye opener for my husband and I. She is very clingy and also fearful these days too. She LOVES going for walks but the past 2 nights she has walked far enough to pee then runs in front of me and jumps till I pick her up and carry her the rest of the way. With Wallee's leash in one hand she gets heavy in my other arm. We are back inside and she is on top of me once again, panting and quivering. Tonight I may try some of Wallee's stuffies in her bed and see if that helps but fear she will end up back in my bed again. I sure hope this doesn't ruin her sleeping in her crate. Wallee sleeps very well in a bed on the floor beside her (apparently he doesnt believe he is capable of jumping up on couches or beds) but she is up and down from the bed if I dont crate her. With my hot flashes, I suffer bad from the heat of pets. |
Aww poor little Summer! I'm sending prayers for her surgery Friday, and that she doesn't mourn her "puppies"! |
